You may also attend our virtual service by dialing 760-548-9566 at 11:00 am on Sunday mornings. Johnstone has preached at several churches, including the United Methodist Church in Morton and as a fill-in pastor for other community churches since the early 2000s. Before becoming a pastor later in life, he worked at Puget Sound Energy

and worked building cabinets. Then, in the late 2000s, he decided to go to seminary to become an ordained minister.

“I felt God calling me deeply to become a pastor,” Johnstone said. Preaching in a historic church is an honor, he said about his new role at First Christian. The building was constructed around the turn of the 20th century, and the congregation is an older one. According to the Lewis County Assessor's Office, the church was built in 1900; however building permits were not issued until the 1960s, so the construction dates on buildings built before then are estimates based on the style of architecture. Every Sunday, service starts at 11 a.m. In the sanctuary, the chestnut-stained podium and pulpit are on a raised platform and flanked on three sides by curved pews.

Pastor Mike's message honors veterans who paid the ultimate price for national freedom. Pastor Mike parallels this earthly sacrifice with the spiritual legacy bought by the blood of Jesus Christ.

To God Be The Glory!

Soothing prelude music followed by Pastor Mike centering his message on the concept that God's grace is an ever-flowing, inexhaustible resource, comparing it to "permeating sunlight" and "constant manna." Pastor Mike concludes with a practical challenge: spend 60 seconds each morning acknowledging that you are operating on a "full anointing of God's grace" before the demands of the world take over.

In his Mother's day message Pastor Mike Harden discusses "Planting" vs. "Burying": In one of the most moving segments, he addresses those who feel they are in a "grave" of tragedy or bitterness (a "Season of Mara"). He reassures the congregation that God isn't burying them; He is planting them for a future harvest.

The May 3rd message from Pastor Mike Harden serves as both a comfort and a commission, urging believers to live as "ambassadors for the King" and offering hope to those feeling lost in the modern world's "bad news."
