Last month I was accepted into and ordained by the All Nations missionary agency. I have been blessed by and a supporter of All Nations for over 25 years. Our Mission Statement is: “To make disciples and train leaders to ignite church planting movements among the neglected peoples of the earth.” Did you know that Japan has the 2nd largest population of unreached people in the world?

On Sept 25th, I depart for an initial year of refresher language study in Japan. I am asking friends and family to join my Sending Team. Prayer and financial support are huge, but there are also many other ways you can send and support me. I’d love to talk with you about it.

Going forward, I will no longer be using Facebook for ministry updates. For security reasons, I'm using Epistle, a missionary communications service to keep in touch. The most effective prayers are faith-filled, specific prayers. Epistle is a simple, secure way to keep ministry partners informed via email. Please pray as to how you might become a ministry partner.

I am back in Kansas City where I will be attending the All Nations CPx (cross cultural Church Planting Experience) training for the next 3 weeks. I am preparing to return to missions service in Japan.

Dear Friends of NMHOP,

I’m writing to tell you what’s happening at the Northern Michigan House of Prayer.

As most of you know, 4 years ago, I lost my wife Chikako to cancer. 35 years ago, Chikako and I responded to the Lord’s call on our lives to be missionaries to Japan. It was our first ministry calling and we served there together for 8 years before being led to Kansas City in 1997. In Feb of this year, the Lord began restoring my interest in and heart for Japan. Until several months ago I was not even aware of this desire to return to missions service in Japan. It seems God used the month I spent in Japan last year to germinate this resurrected desire in my heart, and it just recently sprouted. Now that I am well into retirement age, I am so pleased that the Lord is reigniting the passion of my youth. Little by little the dream is becoming clearer, and I can now say without a doubt, that the Lord is giving me confirmation and assurance to go back and serve Him in Japan.

For these reasons, I have resigned from the NMHOP board and presidency.

Daniel Hintz has taken on the role of President of the NMHOP, with Carmela Boyd (and Yvonne Lashuay at her side) are taking on local leadership of the NMHOP ministries. Changes are coming to schedules and prayer meetings, so stay tuned.

In June I will be traveling to Kansas City for 3 weeks of cross-cultural church planting training. I will also be visiting our former missions agency, Overseas Missionary Fellowship HQ in Colorado for a few days after the training.

On May 19th, the Gathering Place church leadership has offered to host a benefit lunch after church to help me raise funds for the June training, travel, and expenses. I'm hoping to be on my way to Japan in the fall. I don’t have many answers yet about affiliation, role, timing, or location. The Lord is leading me one step at a time. I do know that I will need a good bit of time to refresh my language abilities after returning.

More to come as the Lord leads.

Dear friends of NMHOP,

Here is just a reminder that NMHOP will be conducting our regular Thursday prayer meetings on Thanksgiving. Daniel Hintz will be leading us this week and I expect we will have plenty of opportunity to express thankfulness to the Lord.

During our prayer meeting this morning I had the image come to me of a pressure relief valve. This is the kind of safety valve you find on boilers and water heaters. If the pressure rises beyond safe levels within the system, it will automatically open and prevent damage. They also have a lever on top by which to open them manually. I knew right away that this valve represents gratitude. Opening that valve (i.e. being grateful) eliminates stress. Stress dissipates in an atmosphere of thankfulness. I’m thinking stress cannot exist in the presence of true thanksgiving. Does this ring true for you? Isn’t this the best way to let off steam?

Please join us in fasting and prayer today and tomorrow for the elections.

The prayer room will be open from noon today until the poles close tomorrow evening for anyone who would like to stop in for a consecrated time in prayer. Also, this evening the house of prayer will be joining the two prayer calls mentioned below. Please join us in person. Otherwise, I urge you to join in the calls from home.

Dear friends of NMHOP,

Tonight at 7:30pm, NMHOP will be hosting Angie Gamble and Ken Verheecke for a Songs of Healing Worship Night. Sorry for the late notice. This plan just came together last evening. Angie came to Cheboygan from Colorado to participate in the All Nations Ablaze 24hr worship event we had last weekend and will be heading back home tomorrow. And of course, most of us know Ken, our local award-winning guitarist, and worshiper. This is open to the public so feel free to share this notice.

Somehow I sense this is a Holy Spirit warm-up for the Healing School that begins tomorrow evening.

Gathering Place Black River Full Gospel

Years ago the inside glass on the front of the church was covered over and is no longer visible. On the outside, the glass took damage over the years allowing water to pe*****te the building. We needed to fix it.

The answer was to replace the glass with metallic sign board, printed with images of the original glass. This is by far the best solution we could have asked for. Thank You, Lord!, and thanks to my cousin Kirk Bedtelyon for producing the replacement panels
