Today, commissioners signed a proclamation recognizing May 5th as the National Day of Prayer in Ellis County and presented it to Judy Nelson, the Day of Prayer event organizer: http://co.ellis.tx.us/Archive.aspx?ADID=3382.

The National Day of Prayer is an annual, nation-wide recognition of the central role that religious freedom and faith have played in American history. At the National Day of Prayer event, Judge Little and other local officials will speak about the importance of prayer in guiding them through important decisions for our community. The event will begin promptly at noon on Thursday, May 5th, in the Farley Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie.

Please note that this is an updated location due to forecasted rain.

I didn't enjoy writing tickets - But you didn't know
I cried when I found your daughter lying in a ditch, high on m**h - But you didn't know
I was devastated when I found the 32 year old veteran dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound - But you didn't know
I missed my kids birthdays, school plays and family trips because I had to work - But you didn't know
I had nightmares about the 2 year old I found crushed under a truck tire while mom was inside buying dope - But you didn't know
I really struggled with EVERY death notification I made to a family about their loved one - But you didn't know
I was never comfortable at social gatherings because with the things I've seen, I can't trust anyone - But you didn't know
I've seen things you could never even imagine - But you didn't know
I really didn't like putting people in jail - But you didn't know
My job was hard on my family - But you didn't know
I had problems, just like everyone else - But you didn't know
The next time you see an officer, or any first responder, remember that they are people first and there is no training in the world that prepares them for the things they see and do on a daily basis.

EXPECT MIRACLES:
Mental health struggles, physical ailments, relational hardships, and general suffering are all things we have grown to accept in this life. It’s not a matter of if, but when our next trial is going to come. Most people simply cope with their problems and adapt to them as part of life. After all, problems and struggles are “normal.” I would like to encourage a mindset shift. Start to shift from coping and accepting problems to a holy discontent of those problems. We as modern-day Christians and churches need to look at the tribulations in our bodies and world differently. We must anticipate a different result than what is considered “normal.”

We must EXPECT MIRACLES.

EXPECTING MIRACLES is not denying what we are going through, but it is a mindset that will not allow the things of this natural world cloud what God can do in the supernatural.
EXPECTING MIRACLES is having faith in the God that calls those things that do not exist as though they do.
EXPECTING MIRACLES is that small mustard seed of faith which casts mountains into the sea.
EXPECTING MIRACLES is putting our faith on the solid rock of Christ rather than the shifting sand of this world.

It is time that we as Christians/Churches start playing offense and not defense. In Matthew chapter 16, Jesus Christ promises that the gates of hell shall not prevail against US. Too many believers accept the conditions that they are in, rather than using the authority that God has given them through His Holy Spirit to wage war against the principalities of hell. Mankind was created to RULE and REIGN. Rise up church and walk out in the authority that God has given you. STOP ASKING GOD TO MOVE THE MOUNTAIN WHEN HE HAS ASKED YOU TO COMMAND THAT MOUNTAIN TO MOVE (Mark 11:22-24). When He rose from that grave and sent us His Holy Spirit, we have the authority of Christ on this earth. It’s time we stop telling God how big our problems are, and begin telling our problems how big our God is.

I want to encourage you:
- Stop coping with your problems and get a holy discontent of those problems.
- Go on the offensive side.
- Step out in faith.
- EXPECT MIRACLES.

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Then I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will turn back to you.

Steadfast spirit appears confident but not arrogant. It means to always be appreciative of others' time and always make people feel important. A person with steadfast spirit is upfront about what they do not know but never waivers in asserting their ability to quickly learn new things and grow.
