A Verse to Carry This Month: September 🍂

As we get into another month and season, let us remember that although everything around us may change, God endures forever. Amen.

Andrew Murray once said, "Prayer is reaching out and after the unseen; fasting is letting go of all that is seen and temporal.Fasting helps express, deepens, confirms the resolution that we are ready to sacrifice anything, even ourselves, to attain what we seek for the kingdom of God." This Sabbath, September 5, Pastor Gary Rustad is calling the GA-Cumberland Conference to prayer. Pray for our evangelistic meetings this fall, pray for our family, friends and our community, to be ready to meet Jesus when He comes. Please join us, Sabbath September 5 for a time of fasting and prayer. You can choose to not eat food for 24 hours, to not eat “pleasant food,”to give up sugar or screen time or any number of items that can get in the way of our our relationship with Jesus. If Sabbath isn’t the best, choose to fast during our monthly First Fasting Friday. Whatever you do, please remember the Chattanooga First Church upcoming meetings with Pastor Peter Kulakov, The Future Unfolding, that begins October 9 @ 7:00 pm.

This past weekend was Women's Ministry Weekend, and it was one to remember!

We were honored to welcome Dr. Michelle Hill, who shared a powerful message on Sabbath about remaining faithful and true to God, even when it feels like He is silent. She reminded us that God's silence is not His denial, among many other encouraging truths. Following the service, we enjoyed a delicious potluck and a special afternoon women's meeting, where we had the opportunity to hear more from Dr. Hill and continued reflecting on her inspiring message.

It was truly a blessing to have Dr. Hill share her story and encourage not only women, but the entire church family. We are grateful for the wisdom, hope, and inspiration she shared with us throughout the day!

Last Sabbath, July 18th, the Chattanooga First SDA Church took part in communion. What a blessing it was to see so many take part in this practice, to humble ourselves and honor Jesus for the sacrifice He made. It was also a bittersweet Sabbath as Pastor Chris shared his last message, titled “First Things First”, that highlighted putting our Savior and the Kingdom of Heaven first above everything else. And we wished Pastor Chris and Dulce Lopez a final goodbye.

Additionally, we take this time to appreciate Randy McCorkle. To thank him for the time he spent with us as he will be heading back to Southern Adventist University to further his theological studies.

The Chattanooga First Church prays blessings over Pastor Chris and Dulce, and Randy as they take this next step in their personal journeys to further God’s will. God bless you!

Join us as we bid farewell to Pastor Chris and Dulce Lopez as they worship with us for their final Sabbath. They are beginning an exciting new chapter as they move to the Seminary, where Pastor Chris will pursue his Master's degree. We are deeply grateful for their faithful ministry, friendship, and the many ways they have blessed our church family. While we will certainly miss Pastor Chris and Dulce, we pray God's richest blessings upon them as He leads them into this next season of service.

This upcoming Sabbath, July 18th, we will have the Memorial of our Lord's Humiliation and celebrate the Lord's Supper. Please join us as Pastor Chris also gives his final sermon titled "Keep First Things First."
