The Rosh Nooga oversees the joint Sunday School program between B’nai Zion and Mizpah congregations. This role administers all aspects of the school and is the point of contact for new and continuing families of the program.
The Rosh Nooga works closely with the Rabbis of each congregation to prepare for the weekly programming, supports the teachers and oversees the teen aides (madrichim).
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee the Machanooga budget,submit payroll, and conduct purchasing of supplies
Keep records of student applications and overall attendance
Administer hiring paperwork and contracts for teachers and madrichim
In conjunction with staff, make annual calendar and weekly schedule
Draft and distribute all weekly communications to staff and families (email, social media), and communications with congregations and Federation (monthly article)
Work with congregational staff to meet school needs; i.e, security, setup, etc.
Create and/or maintain school policies and safety procedures
Ensure all supplies and materials are prepared and setup for Sunday, cleanup and breakdown activities Sunday afternoon
Oversee the teen aides and assigns to appropriate classrooms
Conduct planning meetings and trainings
Schedule and attend weekly programming meetings and as needed Advisory Committee Meetings
Work in collaboration with Schlichim (Israeli representative(s) through Federation) on programming ideas and schedule.
Substitute teach or find a substitute for absent teachers
Lead or assist with activities as needed
WORK REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Three to five years of experience in administration, education, event planning, or customer service
Strong computer skills.
Google Suite and Constant Contact preferred.
An ability to problem-solve and think quickly on one’s feet and deal with a variety of different personalities and situations while conducting duties in a positive, professional manner in the best interest of Machanooga.
Lift a minimum of 20lbs, and climb one flight of stairs.
