Mt. Olive Baptist Church was Blessed to have Bobby Souther as a Pastor for well over 30 years. Bobby preached the word and stood by it as was evident in the what many would call good old fashioned services both inside the church as well as on the creek bank. He loved to hear the youth choir sing, one of his favorites being "I Just Stopped By (On My Way Home)" and often made request for them to sing. Bobby loved the Lord and he loved Mt. Olive, and the church loved him. Many have said that he was the best pastor that they ever had. So many young people and young preachers came up under his care and love. He never failed or hesitated to be there for them. He just went home, a place that he longed to be.

Rev. Robert Bobby Thearl Souther age 88, of Chatsworth, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. June at Mt. Olive was a month to remember, kicking off with a wonderful afternoon visit from Darien and Asa, complete with fellowship, song, and good food. The Vacation Bible School that followed was truly exceptional, making that week one for the books. Our church activities continued in full swing with Sunday school lessons, youth group, and music, but best of all was the preaching of the Word, where we felt the Lord's presence and were richly blessed. With July ahead, our expectations are high, and we welcome those looking for a home church to join us.

I wanted to be sure and recognize several of our volunteers.
It was all hands on deck and they were definitely dedicated.
I'm sure that I missed some and for that I apologize. But these people spent a lot of time preparing and making sure everything was ready. Then the week of gave everything they had and then some. I for one am so thankful for these people and what they mean in my life.
I'm thankful to be a part of a church that loves and cares so much for the young people.
