As Memorial Day approaches it would be a great time to visit the Chatham Rural Cemetery. There are over 200 veterans buried here from the Revolutionary War forward. Take a walk here, each flag on a plot marks a veteran's grave. Remember the men and women that gave their lives or a part of their lives so we can enjoy our lives.

Welcome to the new page for Chatham Rural Cemetery! We would like to use this space to inform and be informed about the history of the cemetery and the loved ones that are buried within it.
I will begin with the history I know, the cemetery has been a place of burial since the 1700's and was incorporated sometime in the mid to late 1800's. It is a Rural Cemetery which is a cemetery built within the borders of a town, village or city and is meant to be a place of burial and a place of recreation and reflection.
Currently the Chatham Rural Cemetery Assoc. is an organization run by volunteers. We are trying to seek ways to maintain and restore the grounds, roadways and headstones. Any volunteer help would be very welcomed!
We would also love to hear about your family and friends that are buried here. Every story is a memorial to the people that went before us, the people that started the farms, ran the businesses, grew the families, educated the children and in some cases went to war to make our area a truly a great place to live.
