This morning was the Martin Luther King Day breakfast hosted by the Chaska Human Rights Commission. We were honored to be nominated for the Chaska Human Rights Award this year. Two of our members also shared their musical talents.
It was a lovely celebration of the legacy of Dr. King and those in our community who work to make Chaska a place where everyone belongs.
Congratulations to Monday Market and their tireless crew who are fighting food insecurity within Chaska High School! What an amazing program!

As we seek to turn prayers into actions, we offer a prayer from the Rev. David E. Bennett, President of the Moravian Church Northern Province

God of Epiphany,
In these moments when our path seems dark and uncertain, we ask that you illumine our way with your wisdom.

Grant us grace….that we may be kindred spirits with all your human creation.

Grant us truth….that we may receive clarity for justice.

Grant us peace….that we may yet know the day when the lion will lay down with the lamb.

We place in your embrace this young life [lost yesterday] and ask that you make us partners with you in caring for those whose sorrow is immense and the places where fear is overwhelming. Make of us living reminders of the Gospel in these complex moments.

May we as a Moravian faith community demonstrate the transformative hope found in those ancient and simple words…….”in all things love.” Amen.

Today we light the candle of Peace.

Today we light the candle of Peace.

Today we light the candle of Peace and remember that Christ guides us toward wholeness, harmony, and right relationships. This reflection comes from the Advent Candle Lighting Liturgies for 2025, created in partnership with the Board of World Mission, the Moravian Ministries Foundation, the Southern Province Commission on Congregational Development, and the Interprovincial Board of Communications.

This week’s theme lifts up caring for those who are vulnerable or oppressed. In Sierra Leone, a Moravian School now allows girls and boys to learn safely near home, protected from harm. Through the Unity Women’s Desk, congregations around the world receive resources to advocate for women facing violence and to work for change in legal systems. These liturgies connect the themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love with real ministries of Moravian congregations and organizations.

May the light of Peace guide our feet and shine through all who offer protection and care.
