How does one recogize a true prophet of God? How do we know that he really is whom he claims to be? Good questions. This essay offers some insightful answers from the Baha'i perspective.

Many people have claimed to be prophets, but few actually deliver. So how do you recognize a true prophet?

Here's a weighty question that merits some reflection: If God is the "Unknowable Essence" as Baha'u'llah teaches, then how do we humans who are so limited in our understandings and capacities truly get to know God? Hmmmmm. Baha'u'llah teaches that to know God, we should strive to gain knowledge of His signs and attributes as revealed to us through His Manifestations -- those holy and sanctified Beings, His chosen Messengers, who appear from age to age, among them Abraham, Noah, Buddha, Zoroaster, Christ, Muhammad, the Bab, and Baha'u'llah. God's all-embracing knowledge, His boundless love and wisdom, His mercy and grace, and His justice, are among the attributes of God reflected in His Manifestations. Also, the signs of God are everywhere around us! Have you ever marveled at the beauty of the night sky? Baha'u'llah wrote: "Every time I lift up mine eyes unto Thy heaven, I call to mind Thy highness and Thy loftiness, and Thine incomparable glory and greatness..." Have you ever gazed in awe at the ocean? Baha'u'llah wrote: "And when I behold the sea, I find that it speaketh to me of Thy majesty, and the potency of Thy might, and of Thy sovereignty and Thy grandeur." Although we may experience these signs in creation through our senses, they speak as well to our very soul! What is the destiny of America? It may not feel promising given the grave challenges that we presently face, the disappointments and setbacks we experience. As noted in this video, the sacred scriptures in the Baha'i Faith promise a destiny for America that exceeds the principles of equality upon which it was founded. There is a moral and spiritual dimension to achieving that destiny, and Baha'is in the Charlottesville area are working hard to apply the spiritual principles necessary to bring it about in community after community. Check it out! Join us in this grassroots spiritual enterprise of creating a better world for all.

During 1863-1870 while exiled in Adrianople and then Akka, Baha'u'llah proclaimed the unifying spiritual principles of His Revelation to the kings, queens, and rulers of the age through majestic messages addressed to Queen Victoria, Pope Pius IX, Napoleon III, Czar Alexander II, and Nasiri'd-Din Shah. He summoned them to reign with justice, to reduce armaments, resolve conflicts among the nations, and to end excessive expenditures that impoverish their peoples. He called the rulers to a higher, more principled level of governing thereby laying the foundation for a peaceful world. These messages, unprecedented in religious history, are published in "The Summons of the Lord of Hosts". Baha'is worldwide continue sharing Baha'u'llah's Teachings, which seem more relevant than ever given the turmoil troubling our planet. We will never stop working for peace.

Tonight at sunset marks the end of the Nineteen Day Baha'i Fast, during which Baha'is abstain during daylight hours from food and drink, align their lives with God, and prepare spiritually for a new year. Today also marks the Spring Equinox! 🌸🌷🪻🪻To celebrate, enjoy this lovely song by our dear friend Ali Youssefi. The lyrics are from the Holy Writings of Baha'u'llah: "O Friend! In the garden of thy heart, plant naught but the rose of love." (From the Hidden Words of Baha'u'llah)

"Rose of Love" is a song about the immense capacity hidden within the human heart — a capacity to love in deeper, more powerful ways than we often imagine po...
