Here's a weighty question that merits some reflection: If God is the "Unknowable Essence" as Baha'u'llah teaches, then how do we humans who are so limited in our understandings and capacities truly get to know God? Hmmmmm. Baha'u'llah teaches that to know God, we should strive to gain knowledge of His signs and attributes as revealed to us through His Manifestations -- those holy and sanctified Beings, His chosen Messengers, who appear from age to age, among them Abraham, Noah, Buddha, Zoroaster, Christ, Muhammad, the Bab, and Baha'u'llah. God's all-embracing knowledge, His boundless love and wisdom, His mercy and grace, and His justice, are among the attributes of God reflected in His Manifestations. Also, the signs of God are everywhere around us! Have you ever marveled at the beauty of the night sky? Baha'u'llah wrote: "Every time I lift up mine eyes unto Thy heaven, I call to mind Thy highness and Thy loftiness, and Thine incomparable glory and greatness..." Have you ever gazed in awe at the ocean? Baha'u'llah wrote: "And when I behold the sea, I find that it speaketh to me of Thy majesty, and the potency of Thy might, and of Thy sovereignty and Thy grandeur." Although we may experience these signs in creation through our senses, they speak as well to our very soul!
