Dear Mooreland Friends and Family - Below is Lynn’s Facebook post with details of Doc’s service to be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at University Baptist Church. Please continue to keep Doc’s family in your prayers. We at Mooreland were blessed each Sunday for many years in hearing God’s message delivered through Doc in a personal and real way. Certainly, a good and faithful servant has been welcomed home!

“My heart is heavy. Surrounded by his children and wife, Dad left us to pitch for Heavenly All Stars this afternoon. In a final gift, he waited for both boys to arrive.

I trust with all I am that he heard, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” I hope one of the first things he saw was a certain little girl running up to greet her Papa Hugh.

Services will be at University Baptist Church at 1 pm on Saturday, August 16th in Charlottesville with the Revs. Brian Barnes, Gene White, and Lynn Litchfield Divers officiating.

Reception to follow immediately after the service.”
