Sis. Deborah Young and Dr. Cleya Williams

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to increase awareness of the disease. In conjunction with the American Cancer Society, Second Calvary Baptist Church, Health and Wellness Ministry strives to educate our Church and community by providing Breast Cancer Awareness information. Joining in the cause to help women in need today.

Breast Cancer does not discriminate; it affects all genders ethnicities.
Breast cancer has been prominent in the African American community at an alarming rate. Studies have shown that this may be due to utilizing available resources or the lack there of. Studies have also shown that African American women under the age of 35 have cancer rates 2x higher than Caucasian females.
We encourage you to perform monthly breast self examinations to detect any abnormalities.
