Laodicea is an ancient city in Phrygia (near modern Denizli, Turkey) known for its wealth, medical school and famous water—but Jesus calls the “lukewarm.” This message challenges complacency and invites renewed passion for Christ.

Philadelphia in Revelation is a faithful, humble church with “little strength” that kept Jesus’ word and did not deny His name. Jesus commends their perseverance, opens a door no one can shut, promises to keep them from the coming hour of trial, and assures a place as pillars in God’s temple with his name written on them.

Sardis was known for its wealth and reputation—but spiritually, it had become complacent. In Revelation 3, it’s described as a church that looked alive on the outside but was actually asleep. The message is a wake-up call: be watchful, strengthen what remains, and return to what truly matters.

About Pergamos: an ancient city known as a center of power and idolatry, called “where Satan’s throne is.” The church there was praised for holding fast amid persecution (Antipas is named as a faithful witness), but warned about spiritual compromise and tolerating false teaching (the Balaam and Nicolaitan influences). We’ll explore what steadfast faith looks like today in a culture of influence and compromise.
