Heavenly Father,
We praise You for Your incredible power and the mighty work You do in our lives. Thank You for Your goodness, Your abundant blessings, and Your steadfast love. We are grateful for the sacrifice You made so that we could experience freedom and life through Jesus. As we celebrate the holidays and the uncharted season that lies ahead in the New Year.Please forgive us for the times we fail to express our gratitude for who You are and all that You do. Help us to refocus our hearts and minds on You, to renew our spirits, and to be filled with Your peace and joy. We love You, Lord, and we desperately need You today and every day. All glory and honor belong to You alone.

The Unknown

Heartbroken, definitely. With this election behind us and an uncertain future many of us are deeply concerned and consumed with FEAR. But I’m reminded that one of our greatest fears is the fear of the future or the fear of the unknown.

My friends, I’m reminded of this truth something I learned some time ago. When you think about the future, though, it’s not the future that you fear. It is in reality, we’re fearing the past.

Amen.

We’re fearing feelings and emotions we’ve experienced in the past. As we face the future, it’s those things we don’t want to deal with again. Instead, we tend to build walls around our lives to keep fear out.

Yes!

Look here, the walls we build around our lives cause us to have a greater fear as opposed to just living life and facing fear. So again, the fear you face is not the fear of the future, it’s the fear of the past. The baseline of all fear is the fear of the future regardless of who sits in the White House.

Am I right?

But let me say this to each of you. We have a couple of ways to face fear. We can either face it with a foundation or we can face it with feelings. A foundation in my opinion is solid. It’s significant. Feelings, on the other hand, are capricious. You can’t nail them down. It’s like trying to nail Jello to a wall, so to speak. Amen. Listen, we either face fear with a foundation or with our feelings.

Church family, We fear what could happen. The reason we fear what could happen is because it’s based on what did happen in our lives. Let’s not borrow fear from the past. Let’s borrow faith from the past as we face the future. Faith in or Creator. Faith in each other and in our ability to rise above whatever circumstances come before us.
In closing let me direct you to a favorite scripture of mine.

The Bible says in Proverbs 1:7 that the fear of God is the beginning of knowledge, the beginning of wisdom. This is my foundation. If you haven’t already discovered this fact; I hope you will begin to make it yours today.
