What is spiritual renewal to you? How do you connect or reconnect with God? What is your testimony today?

04/23/2015

I would like to take the chance to welcome all the new people who have liked the page, it is nice to see that people are looking to deepen their personal relationship with God. It as been the endeavor of this page to provide that avenue for people to have a safe place to share their stories and struggles, it is our belief that when we bond together as one we can grow stronger not only as a group but as individuals. So please feel free to treat this page as your on-going prayer and testimony service. God Bless and keep you.

Okay everyone, the new year is here and we are going to get some retreats planned in congregations throughout the year. If you have an interests in having one in your congregation or you know of a congregation that is interested let me know and we will get the plans rolling. This is a new year and a fresh start so let's get it off on the right foot. God Bless and be with you.

With the coming of the new year, planning is going to begin for Spiritual Renewal Weekends. The plan is to hold 3 Weekends throughout the year next year, these will be held in congregations so as to keep the cost of the retreat down. My question to everyone is which congregations would you like to see these Weekends held? Keeping in mind, we need to keep them spread out so that everyone has the chance to attend. Please post your comments so that we can begin planning, thank you.

When I built this page it was my desire to give people a venue where they could post concerns, or struggles, so that we could lift each other up. It is through community that we gain strength and power in the Holy Spirit, when we come together whether it is in church on Sunday or on a page. As the song says, We are Companions on the Journey, if we are to overcome the hurdles it is time we embrace that relationship.

In the future I would like to see people use this page as a place to tell their testimony of Jesus Christ in their life, the power of the Holy Spirit.

In order for us to grow spiritually we need to get out of the pew, step out of the building and demonstrate our love of not only Jesus Christ but our love for each other and our communities. If all we ever do is sit in our pews and talk about what we should do nothing will ever get done. A plan is only a good plan if we put it into practice. I am reminded of the disciples after the crucifixion, it was not until they risked themselves and stepped out from the shadows and into the light that the world began to change. Matthew is chapter 28 tells us to go forth and baptize everyone, but it also goes on to tell us to teach them how to live according to God's law. As you sit around your congregations and see the empty seats, ask yourself, what have I done to fill that seat. We should not be asking the question why are people no longer coming to church, we should be asking ourselves what have we done to minister to our community lately. Spiritual growth cannot happen if we are not willing to do something, what are you going to DO to spiritually grow?

When it comes to Spiritual Renewal the Christmas Season is and excellent time of year to consider not only how your Spiritual maturity has developed over the past year but also an excellent time to anticipate the ways you can deepen it over the next year. As you make your Spiritual journey to the stable and manger be mindful of the differing ways you can re-experience and deepen your relationship with with Jesus.

If there is any truth to the following quote perhaps the Theme for the Spring Retreat should center around knowing God more intimately...

When it comes to knowing God, we are a culture of the spiritually stunted. So much of our religion is packaged to address our felt needs— and these are almost uniformly anchored in our pursuit of our own happiness and fulfillment. God simply becomes the Great Being who, potentially at least, meets our needs and fulfills our aspirations. We think rather little of what he is like, what he expects of us, what he seeks in us. We are not captured by his holiness and his love; his thoughts and words capture too little of our imagination, too little of our discourse, too few of our priorities. In the biblical view of things, a deeper knowledge of God brings with it massive improvement in the other areas mentioned: purity, integrity, evangelistic effectiveness, better study of Scripture, improved private and corporate worship, and much more. But if we seek these things without passionately desiring a deeper knowledge of God, we are selfishly running after God’s blessings without running after him.

I would like to thank each and everyone that came out to Croswell on Saturday for the Spiritual Growth and Renewal Retreat. Each one of you were instrumental in making the entire day a success. I would ask that if you were able to attend and are comfortable with it please post a testimony on the page of your time at the retreat so we can get more people to see the extreme value of these times in community with each other. We look forward to seeing you at future retreats. If you were not able to attend, please keep your eyes open for an upcoming event in the spring.

Okay, the schedule has been set for the retreat coming up in Croswell on September 26th. We will start at 9am and go until about 4:30 or 5pm. The Theme is going to remain the same and a wonderful day filled with a chance for everyone to experience the Holy Spirit and deepen their walk with God has been planned. The cost has been lowered to $20.00 and this will cover all expenses so invite everyone to come out and share in this time of growth and deepening in community.

Okay, Retreat update! I have spoken with Gary Smith at Croswell and the congregation has been so kind as to open their doors and allow us to have the retreat in Croswell. Due to this, the retreat will however be shortened to Saturday the 26th of October only. More information will be posted as it becomes available. Please spread the word and plan on joining us for Saturday October 26th at the Croswell Congregation.

Well, due to a lack of registrations the Spiritual Renewal Retreat will have to go through a small redesign. Stay tuned for a location, as I have to contact a couple of congregations to see if I can get a host for the retreat. It will be a one day retreat that will take place on Saturday October 26th.
