Prayer and the Call of the 12 // Luke 6:12–19

When did Jesus say to you- “Follow me?”

This week in our text, we saw Jesus retreat for a night to pray before calling 12 men to follow him.

➡️Prayer is essential to give us what we need to accomplish what God calls us to accomplish.

➡️The 12 disciples were uneducated, common, ordinary people BUT chosen by Jesus and with the power of the Holy Spirit, they could do everything God intended for them to do.

➡️It's time to be used by God to do amazing things in this world for him! It's time to be men and women of valor. It's time to operate in Jesus's strength and power. He doesn't need ability but availability. It's time to JUST GO!

✨Where is your mission? Where is your ministry? Pray and ask God to show you where he wants you to go for him!✨

✨MINISTRY TEAM SPOTLIGHT :: Production Team

Usually among the first to arrive and last to leave, the Production Team is the silent ninja of church ministry, making sure we have words on the screen to sing to, mics turned up at the proper times, and photos to help tell the story of what God is doing at Moments of Hope Church. Within the past 6 months, we’ve expanded our team with an additional 4 volunteer positions needed per Sunday in order to broadcast our service via livestream, reaching over 500 more people each weekend with the message of the gospel.

We are so grateful for each volunteer that sits behind the scenes for both services - you are a necessary part of Moments of Hope Church!

If you are interested in learning more about our Production Team, led by Peter McKenzie, you do not have to have any prior experience. Training is offered, as well a home cooked meal, on Sunday morning. Check out our website and fill out our JUST GO Mobilization Intake Form to take next steps.

A Man with a Withered Hand // Luke 6:6–11

This Luke passage reminds us that Jesus is in the restoration business. Revelation 21:5 tells us that he is making ALL things new. He came for the broken, the withered, the atrophied. He came for our withered hearts.

So how do we apply this? We must remember:

➡️ Helping people’s hunger is more important than rules and regulations➡️ Helping people’s pain is more important than rules and regulations

✨A great leadership principle: People first!

✨MINISTRY TEAM SPOTLIGHT :: Worship and Prayer Ministry

Our Worship and Prayer Ministry team is at the heart of what we do at Moment’s of Hope Church. Led by Parker Robinson, our worship team masterfully focuses our attention on Jesus, bringing us into an atmosphere of surrender and praise. Our Prayer and Ministry Team, led by Caleb Graves, prays over our Sunday services weekly and are available to pray with congregants during and after services. We are so grateful for volunteers, like Kelly Dick, who give of their time and talent to serve the body of Christ in such a vital way.

We are always looking for musicians and vocalists to join our worship team, as well as Ministry Team leaders that desire to pray with others. We also have smaller events you can participate in for worship if you are unable to commit to Sunday morning. Our pre-service prayer is open to anyone who wants to join in- we pray over our Sunday morning space from 8-8:30am.

🎟️We had such a wonderful time of fun and fellowship last Saturday at our Little Kid’s Carnival! Despite moving everything inside, several families still showed up for carnival games and a hotdog lunch! We are so grateful for Brooke Thomas, our Little Kid’s Coordinator, for putting together such a fun event!

Jesus is Lord of Sabbath // Luke 6:1–5

The Christian faith is a relationship, not rule-following. Yes, you need one day a week for Sabbath rest, but every day should be a Sabbath rest. How can we please God? By having FAITH. See Hebrews 11:6 —"And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him."

It's not just do/done, it's PURSUIT/PURSUED. Either you keep pursuing God by your works, hoping he approves of you OR… The Son of Man, the Adonai/Kurios of the universe, the One who created the Sabbath, is PURSUING YOU to have an eternal relationship with him. It is not based on what you do for him, but what he has done for you. On the cross, he paid it all…the Lord of the universe took my place on his cross.

✨Jesus is God: It's the heart of the Christian faith.
