When we think of being a good friend, do we do it right? Are we truly living out God’s intention when we love our friends as our brothers or sisters?
If you want to feel the fullness of friendship that God intended us to have with each other, we need to be sure we do a few things. First, we have to be friendly. It’s not hard, and it doesn’t take anything away from you to take the initiative and be friendly first. Secondly, we have to be comfortable with being uncomfortable with our friends. When we open our vulnerabilities with our friends, we show them that we trust them. The allows our friends to trust us with their vulnerabilities as we both look towards Christ to give us the strength and wisdom to carry us through our vulnerabilities. Third, we need to add value to our friendships. Listen and take mental notes when speaking with your friends. There might be an opportunity to help them in a time of need. Lastly, we need to be willing to receive help from our friends when they offer. Pride and refusing the help of your friends when they see we are hurting is an easy way to ruin a friendship. God created us to be in a community, allow that community to support you when you need it.

Thank you for watching.

Tomorrow is Faith Promise Sunday. Come and learn how YOU can support the Global Mission of completing Jesus' instruction to his disciples to go forth to all nations.

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20 NIV
