Good morning everyone. We are excited to bring you this update about our mission here in Charlotte.
When we answered God’s call to plant a church in Charlotte, we never believed that we were the calvary riding into the city to save the day. We had the mindset of, “God is already at work in Charlotte. Let’s find our place where we fit in the city and look to serve alongside the people who are already there.”
With this heart for Gospel-work and a desire to serve well, we have worked to build relationships with other churches, ministries, and people in the city who have that same heart for Kingdom building. And through our first year, we have seen God be faithful and fruitful in helping us reach our city and build those relationships.
One such relationship that has grown tremendously is the one we have built with CityLight Church and their pastor, Brian Norris. Brian’s passion for this city and his commitment to leading his church well in being an outward-facing community of missionaries here has been a source of encouragement and motivation for myself and our church.
As our relationship kept growing through our working together on many different areas of the mission here in the city, God started to impress upon our hearts something even bigger than we could have imagined was possible.
With both of us seeing the enormous challenge of reaching hard places here in Charlotte, the health of a church being closely tied to having a strong leadership team, and common desires to plant a church that, when multiplied, will create multi-ethnic and multi-generational expressions of God’s kingdom here in Charlotte and around the world, we began to ask the question, “What would it look like to do this work together?”
We believe God has led us to take Kainos Charlotte and CityLight and plant them into the ground so that an even greater, healthier, Kingdom building church can rise. We believe this will be a model of church planting that will be healthier, more effective, and more sustainable for the long term health of the mission of the church.
We believe that there are more people God has given this vision and heart to join us in seeking to be a church that strives to be authentic in our expressions of worship, community, and mission.
We look forward to sharing more exciting news about what is to come in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you for your continued prayers and support of what God is doing here in Charlotte!
