First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte

First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte An inclusive, urban church in the center of Uptown Charlotte. Worship with us at 11 a.m. Sunday!

First Presbyterian Church of Charlotte is a warm and loving family of faith in Jesus Christ, seeking to understand and follow God’s word and teachings. We find confidence and joy in the promise of God’s everlasting and redeeming love, and the truth that all people have inherent dignity and are known and loved as God’s children. We also acknowledge that we are an imperfect people in need of God’s g

race as we continuously reform and learn how to be better instruments of God’s love. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we bring our diverse social, political, and theological perspectives to be woven together in a caring community of believers for Christ in the heart of Charlotte.

Last weekend, we gathered to hear newly ordained Lucy Baum preach and to say a bittersweet farewell to Lucy Crain, who received a standing ovation for her marvelous work with outreach over the last three years. The rooms were full for children’s First Church and Sunday School, where Rev. Rob Spach kicked off our summer series on Celtic Christianity. Between the bounce houses, a baptism, and our Spring Luncheon, it felt like the very best version of Charlotte. If you’ve been looking for a place where tradition meets a whole lot of life, there is always a seat for you here.

This week, we will gather for a beautiful milestone as we officially install Rev. Lucy Baum at First Presbyterian. We can’t wait to see you there as we celebrate this new chapter in the life of our church family.

Mercy is rarely the easy path, but it is the one that leads to true reconciliation in our city. If you find yourself keeping score today, try trading that weight for a little bit of curiosity instead. Save this for the next time you feel the tension between being right and being restorative.

Choosing to forgive isn’t about letting someone off the hook. It’s about refusing to let resentment have power over your future. It is the hardest work you will ever do, but it’s where your freedom begins.

“A lot of people may not realize… throughout history, there have always been people who believed they were living in the end times.”

In this edition of *A Moment with a Minister*, Rev. Rob Spach reflects on apocalyptic thinking, fear, and the reminder from Jesus that “no one knows the day or the hour.” The full conversation on faith, fear, and apocalyptic thinking is now available on our podcast. Listen through the link in our bio.

Instead of living in fear, what if we lived in hope, faith, love, and kindness?

Asking for help is one of the bravest things you can do.

Feeling nervous? That's normal. Thinking therapy means something is seriously wrong? It doesn't. Many people make real, lasting progress in just a short time, and it all starts with one courageous decision.

Presby Psych at First Presbyterian is a nonprofit counseling center that offers therapy to the broader Charlotte community, including both resourced and under-resourced communities. While Presby Psych is located on our church campus, it is a separate and fully confidential organization. Services are open to all—no church membership, religious background, or prior connection required.

Faith isn't just what happens in the pews; it's what happens around the table and out on the grass. After newly ordained Rev. Lucy Baum preaches this Sunday, we're sticking around for our Spring Luncheon and a playdate for the kids.

If you’ve been looking for a place where your family feels seen and your kids can just be kids, come pull up a chair.

Faith in Charlotte is about more than just showing up. It is about how your life can become a mirror that reflects God’s glory into every corner of the city. Save this as a reminder of why we show up for our neighbors.

You don’t have to work your way into belonging. Unity isn't something we build through effort; it's a gift already living inside us through the Spirit.

“What do we not know? And what do we know?”

As conversations about apocalypse and end times fill our culture, Rev. Rob Spach invites us to step back and refocus on what Jesus actually calls us toward: not fear or prediction, but the kingdom of God already among us — a way of love, peace, justice, and hope. The full conversation on faith, fear, and apocalyptic thinking is now available on our podcast.

True transformation is rarely about trying harder, but rather about letting God change the very rhythm of your life. It starts at home in Charlotte by choosing to look toward your neighbors with more compassion and less hurry.
