I come to you on this rainy evening with sad news. Many of you may have joined after they left, but Bobby Cox and his first wife Jamie and their daughter Elizabeth were very active in our church for 15-20 years. Bobby went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 13. Bobby had throat cancer and had radiation and chemotherapy but would not let them remove his voice box. He did not want anything to hinder him from witnessing about Jesus. And He did that every day.

His service will be on Tuesday, February 17 at:
First Baptist Church, Matthews
185 S. Trade Street
Matthews, NC 28105

They will receive friends at 9:00 am, with the memorial service
following at 10:00 am.

Graveside service will follow at 3:30 pm at:
Flat Rock Cemetery
2764 Powerhouse Road
Independence, Va 24348

Please keep his wife Jane, his daughter Elizabeth, and her family, and his sister Diane, and her family in your prayers.

Letting everyone know that because of the snow storm we are getting just now, the plans for Carol Fox’s funeral service, have been changed. Her funeral service will still be at Midwood Baptist Church

But the date is now on Friday, February 6. They will have visitation from 1:30-2:00pm. And the service will follow at 2:00 pm.

Sadly, I received more sad news yesterday. It seems that our sister in Christ, Doris Davis has gone on to be with the Lord. She was 95 years old. Some of you may remember her as Doris Watts. A few years after her husband Carl Watts died, she married Jack Davis. She came to Midwood Baptist with others of us, after Green closed. Then a few years back she moved to California, which is where she passed away. They have brought her back here to be buried beside Carl. There will be no official funeral service. The family will meet privately and then have a private burial. Please keep her family in your prayers.

I am sure that we are all inside as we anticipate the incoming storm. But I have some sad news to share with you today. On Wednesday, January 21, 2026 our precious friend, and sister-in-Christ, Carol Fox, went home to be with the Lord. She was 84 years old. She and her family were active members of Green Memorial for decades before the church closed. She then came, with many of us, and joined Midwood Baptist Church.

There will be a service to remember this wonderful lady, on Sunday February 1, 2026. The service will be held at:

There will be visitation from 1:30-2:00 PM and the funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM.

There will also be a Committal Service immediately following the funeral service, and it will be at:

I am a little late posting this, but I wanted to make you aware of the passing of Stephanie Craig on August 19th at the age of 77. Stephanie and her husband John M Craig were both members of Green Memorial. For a little family history, John's father, John R Craig and his wife Ruby, as well as John's children Andrea and John were also members of Green. Stephanie's health had not been good for a while. Her Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 6th at 2 pm at Idlewild Baptist Church. The address is: 12701 Idlewild Road, Matthews, NC 28105. They will receive friends at 1pm, before the service and also following the service. The link to Stephanie's obituary is below.

I want to thank each one of you who commented and who were praying for Bill Baumgardner. I have received an update letting me know that Bill Passed away this evening. Please continue to lift up in prayer, his wife Bobbie, and his children, Brian, Anna and Emily and their families. I will let you know when I have any information about arrangements.

Please pray for strength, comfort and peace for his family.

I come to you tonight with an urgent prayer request. Bill Baumgardner, was admitted to the hospital today, in very serious condition. The family has asked our church family to be in prayer for Bill. Thank you for your prayers. Your heartfelt prayers mean so much.

I never seem to be coming to you with good news anymore. Today's post is especially sad for me. Our former pastor, Dr. Buzz Harrison, went to be with Jesus on Christmas Day, at the age of 82.

He came to Green as our interim pastor in 1999, and then, of course served as our Pastor for about 9 years. I had the privilege of serving with him as worship leader and on youth trips. He was without a doubt, a wonderful leader, preacher, pastor and friend. And above all, a man of integrity.

Buzz's Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM on January 25, 2025.
The location will be:
Pea Ridge Baptist Church
5945 E. Pea Ridge Road
Huntington, WV

There will be Visitation and Reception following the service.

Buzz was many things to each of us. Please keep his wife Cherry, and his son Mark and his wife Karen, in your prayers in these coming days.

I just wanted to let you know that we have additional news on Buzz. He is presently in the hospital, and now has non alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. It seems that his heart has been in distress for a long time, but was never detected until now. The doctors are amazed that he has functioned well up to this point. This is what led to the cirrhosis and there is also damage to the spleen. They are giving him a medication for his blood pressure that can only be given in ICU. He is on dialysis daily and they are moving his port to a permanent position in his right chest.

This is a lot to take in. But they are making specific prayer requests for the doctors to have the wisdom and insight as to how to balance so many organs with medication and treatments.

Cherry says that their journey continues as they walk with God!!!

Please continue to lift Buzz and his family, and all the doctors caring for him, up in prayer.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Buzz had his heart surgery yesterday. They replaced his aortic valve, but also found that he had fluid in his lungs. They are taking care of him at the hospital. He will be there recovering for a few days. Thank you so much for your prayers, please continue praying.

We have another update on Buzz. Tomorrow, Friday, September 6, Buzz will be undergoing heart surgery to replace his aortic valve. We don’t know the exact time for the surgery, but please be in prayer for Buzz and the surgical team, that all will go well, with no complications. And that this will resolve his heart issues.

We have received an update on Buzz's condition. Buzz will need to have open heart surgery to replace the aortic valve and repair an ascending aorta aneurysm. He was hoping to go home, from the hospital, the first part of this week to rest and regain strength before surgery. They have not set a date for the surgery yet, due to low platelet count and needing to be sure that the fluid retention is under control.

Our prayers and concern are greatly appreciated by Buzz and his family. Please continue to keep him in your prayers, and I will let you know once a surgery date is set.
