I have some really sad news to report today. I'm sure that you all remember the Sammons family, they were very active in our church for many years. Their son Eric Sammons' daughter, Lindsey Sammons, lost her life yesterday, August 19, 2026, in a tragic motorcycle accident. Please remember Eric and his family, and Lindsey's three young children. Also remember Lindsey's mother, Lori Mitchell.

Thank you for your patience. We now have the arrangements for Mike Garner's service. There will be a Celebration of Life service for Mike on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 12 noon. It will be held at
Midwood Baptist Church
2029 Mecklenburg Ave
Charlotte, NC 28205
Rev. John Maiden and Rev. Dr. Garry Baldwin will be presiding over the service. There will be no formal visitation. The family would love to have you there as they celebrate Mike's life. Please continue to keep his family and his fiancee Darlene in your prayers.

I come to you this morning with sad news about one of our very active members and Christian brother. Our friend Mike Garner went to be with the Lord yesterday, June 25, 2026, morning. He was 76. I do not know what the arrangements are yet, but I will post them as soon as I hear. Please keep his fiancee, Darlene in your prayers, as well as the rest of his family.

I come to you on this rainy evening with sad news. Many of you may have joined after they left, but Bobby Cox and his first wife Jamie and their daughter Elizabeth were very active in our church for 15-20 years. Bobby went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 13. Bobby had throat cancer and had radiation and chemotherapy but would not let them remove his voice box. He did not want anything to hinder him from witnessing about Jesus. And He did that every day.

His service will be on Tuesday, February 17 at:
First Baptist Church, Matthews
185 S. Trade Street
Matthews, NC 28105

They will receive friends at 9:00 am, with the memorial service
following at 10:00 am.

Graveside service will follow at 3:30 pm at:
Flat Rock Cemetery
2764 Powerhouse Road
Independence, Va 24348

Please keep his wife Jane, his daughter Elizabeth, and her family, and his sister Diane, and her family in your prayers.

Letting everyone know that because of the snow storm we are getting just now, the plans for Carol Fox’s funeral service, have been changed. Her funeral service will still be at Midwood Baptist Church
2029 Mecklenburg Ave
Charlotte, NC. 28205

But the date is now on Friday, February 6. They will have visitation from 1:30-2:00pm. And the service will follow at 2:00 pm.

The Committal Service will follow at
Charlotte Memorial Gardens

Charlotte, NC. 28215

Sadly, I received more sad news yesterday. It seems that our sister in Christ, Doris Davis has gone on to be with the Lord. She was 95 years old. Some of you may remember her as Doris Watts. A few years after her husband Carl Watts died, she married Jack Davis. She came to Midwood Baptist with others of us, after Green closed. Then a few years back she moved to California, which is where she passed away. They have brought her back here to be buried beside Carl. There will be no official funeral service. The family will meet privately and then have a private burial. Please keep her family in your prayers.

I am sure that we are all inside as we anticipate the incoming storm. But I have some sad news to share with you today. On Wednesday, January 21, 2026 our precious friend, and sister-in-Christ, Carol Fox, went home to be with the Lord. She was 84 years old. She and her family were active members of Green Memorial for decades before the church closed. She then came, with many of us, and joined Midwood Baptist Church.

There will be a service to remember this wonderful lady, on Sunday February 1, 2026. The service will be held at:

There will be visitation from 1:30-2:00 PM and the funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM.

There will also be a Committal Service immediately following the funeral service, and it will be at:
Charlotte Memorial Gardens

Charlotte, NC 28215

Please remember Carol's children, Karen and Melanie and their families, in prayer, during this time of great loss.
