The African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church is excited to announce that registration for the 2027 Board of Bishops’ and International Ministers and Lay Association (IMLA) Annual Meeting officially opens Monday, October 26, 2026!

Join us February 16–18, 2027, in St. Louis, Missouri, as Zion gathers for a powerful time of worship, fellowship, leadership, and connectional engagement.

Hosted by Bishop Daran H. Mitchell and the Mid-West Episcopal District, this annual gathering brings together clergy, laity, and leaders from across the connection as we continue advancing the mission and ministry of The A.M.E. Zion Church.

THE BOOK OF DISCIPLINE: THE INTERWORKING OF THE LOCAL CHURCH

This course moves beyond a high-level overview and explores how the doctrine, polity, leadership, ministries, stewardship, and organizational structure of The A.M.E. Zion Church are designed to work together to fulfill the Great Commission and build healthy, effective local churches.

From the General Rules and Articles of Religion to local church ministries, leadership development, stewardship, finances, vision casting, relevant ministry, church revitalization, and more—we’re taking a deep dive into how the local church works!

Bishop Barber reminds us that freedom is not just something we inherit—it is something we must protect for the generations coming behind us. ✊🏾

“I want freedom and justice for myself. I want freedom and justice for my children. I want freedom and justice for my children’s children.”

This is the cry of a faith that refuses to bow—to authoritarianism, to lies, or to meanness.

And when the words of our ancestors rise again—“Before I’ll be a slave, I’ll be buried in my grave…”—we are reminded that the struggle for freedom and justice is deeply woven into our faith, our history, and our responsibility to the next generation.

We will stand for truth.
We will stand for justice.
We will stand for freedom.
