Building on our Blessing or Burden? You Decide. series, the Department of Church Growth & Development and the Department of Records & Research are launching a new course curriculum:

THE BOOK OF DISCIPLINE: THE INTERWORKING OF THE LOCAL CHURCH

This course moves beyond a high-level overview and explores how the doctrine, polity, leadership, ministries, stewardship, and organizational structure of The A.M.E. Zion Church are designed to work together to fulfill the Great Commission and build healthy, effective local churches.

From the General Rules and Articles of Religion to local church ministries, leadership development, stewardship, finances, vision casting, relevant ministry, church revitalization, and more—we’re taking a deep dive into how the local church works!

Bishop Barber reminds us that freedom is not just something we inherit—it is something we must protect for the generations coming behind us. ✊🏾

“I want freedom and justice for myself. I want freedom and justice for my children. I want freedom and justice for my children’s children.”

This is the cry of a faith that refuses to bow—to authoritarianism, to lies, or to meanness.

And when the words of our ancestors rise again—“Before I’ll be a slave, I’ll be buried in my grave…”—we are reminded that the struggle for freedom and justice is deeply woven into our faith, our history, and our responsibility to the next generation.

We will stand for truth.
We will stand for justice.
We will stand for freedom.
And we will not bow. ✊🏾🔥

“Do whatever He tells you.” 🙌🏾

Rev. Eldren Morrison reminds us that the last recorded words of Mary in Scripture were not words that pointed to herself—they pointed to Jesus.

The woman who carried God in her womb…
The woman who nursed the Savior…
The woman who watched Him grow in wisdom and stature…
The woman who treasured these things in her heart…

Her final recorded instruction was simple, powerful, and still relevant today:

“Do whatever He tells you.” — John 2:5

That’s a word for all of us. When Jesus speaks, trust Him. When Jesus leads, follow Him. When Jesus gives the instruction, do whatever He tells you!🔥🙌🏾

The Church cannot transform the culture if the culture is transforming the Church.

This is a call to look inward. A call to acknowledge where we have fallen short, where conviction has been replaced by conformity, and where the standards we preach have not always been reflected in the lives we live.

Before we point at the world, we must examine ourselves.

“We must acknowledge our iniquity…”

Revival begins with repentance. Transformation begins with truth. And change begins when the Church is willing to confront itself. 🙏🏾

The National Trust for Historic Preservation is preparing to launch this year’s application for the Preserving Black Churches Grant program. Annual grants from Preserving Black Churches are intended to preserve historic Black houses of worship and advance ongoing preservation activities while strengthening capacity for historic congregations, preservation, and community organizations to steward, manage, and better utilize their historic structures. Grants from Preserving Black Churches range from $50,000 to $500,000. The application period is Wednesday, August 5 - September 11, 2026, at 5:00 PM (EST).
