I grew up on the hymn, "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing". My young self didn't fully understand the words I sang, but I loved the cadence of the song and how the words I understood made me feel.
From studying to prepare for this week's Church School lesson, I discovered that there is a missing stanza from "Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing"... here it is:
"O that Day when freed from sinning,
I shall see Thy lovely Face;
Clothed then in blood-washed Linnen [sic]
How I’ll sing Thy sovereign grace;
Come, my Lord, no longer tarry,
Take my ransom’d Soul away;
Send Thine Angels now to carry
Me to realms of endless Day."
As I think on this verse and remember a friend who transitioned from time to eternity on yesterday, these words carry so much meaning.
