We’re planting a new church in Charlotte.
It’s called Reconcile.

And it’s not about hype.
It’s not about performance.
It’s not about pretending you’ve got it all together.

It’s about Jesus.
And what happens
when ordinary people
decide to live like his kingdom is real.

We eat together.
We listen.
We pray.
We learn how to be a family — across race, background, and story.
We care about justice.
And we believe discipleship starts long before a Sunday service.

I am grateful this morning for Antoine Lassiter Paul Ortiz Mike Pittman and the SEND NC team. I am also grateful for Dhati Baraka Sarah N James Hobson and the Myblvd Co.

5 years ago today I had my first article published by the North American Mission Board and included in the curriculum for their “Undivided: More Than A Hashtag” series on racial reconciliation and the church.

I have been asked many times why I am still part of the SBC (Southern Baptist Convention for my friends who may be unfamiliar). It is because I want to use my voice and my platform to continue to press forward and encourage my brothers and sisters to be a more accurate reflection of the kingdom of God.

This journey I am learning is a marathon, not a sprint. It’s why the energy and zeal that was so present 5 years ago has disappeared from many.

If it isn’t a calling and a part of who you are, this road is proficient at chewing up and spitting out those who aren’t prepared for longevity.

I know this has cost me and our family personally, our church plant financially and our ministry opportunities.

But we are unwavering in our commitment to see the church be the most accurate reflection of the kingdom of God.

On earth as it is in heaven.

I heard this quote years back and it is a constant refrain that echoes the heart of why we are planting Reconcile Church

"We want to labor to put this Gospel on display for the world to see.

In an age and time that seems more divided than ever, the Lord can use this. God’s Word is sufficient. And God’s people are like an illustration God uses to make his Word plain. One He uses to make His Gospel shine brighter.

Not just a diversity of people in the same room, but a diversity of people in the same family.

That deeper, truer unity."

It's a new season!

Today we unveil the new logo for Reconcile Church as we begin our march towards launching our church here in Charlotte.

It has been 7 long years of pouring our souls into building on the vision God burdened our hearts with to plant a church.

If you have rocked with us from day 1, been a part of our community, or are just now getting introduced to us for the first time, we are excited about the coming weeks and what it means for the kingdom here in CLT.

We will be telling our story (the good, the bad, and the ugly), sharing our mission and vision, and inviting you all to partner with us to reach our city with the love of Jesus.

There will be exciting announcements, opportunities to connect with our community, and invitations to pray and partner with the work we are seeking to accomplish.

Brandy and I are praying and expecting for God to move on the hearts of his people and link arms with us to reach all of those who feel far from Him.

I look forward to sharing more exciting things in the days to come!
