A strong Jewish community is built intentionally.

It grows through education, leadership, shared traditions, volunteerism, community spaces, and opportunities that help people feel connected to Jewish life at every stage and generation.

Every program, gathering, learning opportunity, and act of participation helps create a more vibrant and resilient Jewish future.

These are the things that strengthen Jewish life in Charlotte and beyond

Jewish history is world history.

The Jewish experience is deeply connected to broader stories of immigration, resilience, civil rights, culture, education, innovation, and community-building throughout American and global history.

Jewish communities have helped shape the arts, sciences, business, medicine, advocacy movements, and civic life while carrying traditions and identity across generations and across continents.

Understanding Jewish history helps provide greater context for conversations about belonging, identity, and the shared experiences that continue to shape our communities today.

What a fun way to kick off summer!

Yesterday, families from across Jewish Charlotte gathered for Family Field Day. It was a morning of play, connection, and community. From sports stations, mini golf, and bounce houses to crafts, summer reading activities, sweet treats, and plenty of time to connect with friends old and new, it was a wonderful way to celebrate the start of the season.

We also celebrated the incredible momentum of this year’s Annual Campaign and the community that makes it all possible.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We loved celebrating with you and can’t wait for all the fun, connection, and Jewish experiences this summer has in store. 💙

Jewish life is often portrayed through headlines, history, or moments of crisis.

But most Jewish life happens in quieter ways.

It looks like toddlers dancing at Shabbat.
Friends lingering after an event ends.
Camp songs that somehow never leave your head.
Grandparents sharing traditions across generations.
People showing up for one another in big ways and small ones.

Ordinary Jewish life is meaningful precisely because it is lived every day.

Jewish community doesn’t just exist. It takes people who care enough to build it, support it, and show up for it.

In this edition of Why I Give, David Thalberg shares why Federation matters to him and why investing in Jewish Charlotte is so important.

Thank you, David, for your leadership as Chair of our Marketing Committee and for all you do to help strengthen our community.

We are excited to welcome two ShinShinim to Jewish Charlotte this August for the 2026–2027 year.

ShinShinim are young Israeli emissaries who spend a year serving Jewish communities around the world before beginning their military or national service in Israel. Throughout the year, they will help strengthen the connection between Jewish Charlotte, Israel, and the Israeli people through programs, events, education, and community engagement.

We are currently seeking host families to welcome them into their homes in 4 to 6-month increments during their year in Charlotte.

Interested in learning more about hosting? Please reach out to Noah Goldman at [email protected].
