Myers Park Covenant We are a faith community on a journey seeking a welcoming, loving, and just world.

For over 80 years, Myers Park Covenant Church (fka Myers Park Baptist) has been the vanguard of progressive Christianity in the city of Charlotte and in the world. At Myers Park Covenant Church, our mission is to cultivate an inclusive community for spirituality and justice, and we envision a new world where absolutely everyone lives in God’s liberation and peace. Our mission is further summarized by the following four words, inclusivity, community, spirituality, justice, which guide everything we do as a church.

When everything around us seems to be changing, what remains our north star?

Leaders come and go. Political movements rise and fall. Elections bring change. But for people of faith, our calling remains the same: love God with our whole being and love our neighbor as ourselves. In Matthew 22, Jesus identifies these as the greatest commandments, the foundation on which everything else rests.

This Sunday, Rev. Dr. Tim Moore continues Hope in a Sea of Political Division with a reminder that whatever happens in the days ahead, our mission does not change. We are still called to love.

In “We Have a Greater Allegiance”, Rev. Dr. Tim Moore walks through Matthew 22:15–22, where Jesus is handed a Roman coin and asked a trap question about earthly authority.
Instead of getting caught in their political divide, Jesus points to the image stamped on the coin and reframes the entire conversation around our deepest loyalty. He leaves each of us with a timeless question about what truly has the greatest claim on our hearts.
