Myers Park Baptist

Myers Park Baptist For over 80 years, Myers Park Baptist Church has been the vanguard of progressive Christianity in the city of Charlotte and in the world.

Mission: to be an inclusive community for spirituality and social justice. As a church we welcome and affirm all people regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, economic status, political affiliation, or religious belief. We are committed to educating on white privilege, dismantling racism, and denouncing white supremacy in every iteration, until all people, regardless o

f race, are fully affirmed, welcomed, and included in the social and economic fabric of our society. Embracing the Free Pulpit is one way we continually open ourselves to new light. In the words of our first senior minister Dr. George Heaton, "A free pulpit is the very essence of religious and political democracy. A free pulpit means encouragement to break new trails in thought and action; a free pulpit is a great bulwark against tyranny."

Join us at Myers Park Baptist Church for a powerful day of learning, reflection, and action.
On Saturday, June 27 | 9 AM–2 PM, we’re hosting a Restorative Justice Conference—bringing together community leaders and those impacted by violence to imagine a better path forward.
Together, we’ll explore how to:
➡️ Center healing for those harmed
➡️ Promote meaningful accountability
➡️ Strengthen public safety
➡️ Address the root causes of violence, including racial inequity
Featuring speakers:
🔹 Justice Anita Earls, NC Supreme Court
🔹 Garry McFadden, Mecklenburg County Sheriff
This gathering grows out of years of discernment, partnership, and the work of the Charlotte Restorative Justice Initiative (REDRESS NC)—and now you’re invited to be part of what’s next.
✅ Free, but registration required:

Myers Park Baptist Church has officially begun the search for our seventh Senior Minister.

For more than 80 years, MPBC has been a community committed to faith, justice, belonging, and spiritual growth. As we look toward the future, we are seeking a leader who feels called to join us as we continue living into God's vision for our congregation.

We invite you to pray for our Search Committee, future candidates, and our church as we enter this important season of discernment. If you know someone who may be called to this opportunity, please share the position with them.

Applications will be accepted through July 10.

Learn more about the position and access the Church Profile, Senior Minister Profile, and Vision Statement on our website.

What do we do with the blessings we’ve been given?

In Genesis, God blesses Abraham not simply for his own sake, but so that he might become a blessing to others. It raises an important question for all of us: Is God’s blessing a privilege… or a responsibility?

This Sunday, Rev. Dr. Tim Moore invites us to reflect on what it means to live as people shaped not just by blessing received, but by blessing shared.

📖 Genesis 12:1–9

Join us for worship at 10 a.m. in person or online.

Immediately following worship, continue the conversation at Sermon Talk Back, a beloved MPBC tradition where questions, insights, and real-world connections are welcomed in an open and thoughtful discussion.
