In John 17, we are invited into one of the most intimate moments in all of Scripture: Jesus praying. Before the cross, before the suffering, Jesus lifts his eyes toward heaven and prays for those he loves.

He speaks of glory, belonging, protection, and eternal life rooted in knowing God. Even in the shadow of what is coming, Jesus remains grounded in love and communion with the Father.

This prayer reminds us that we are held in that same love. We are not forgotten. We are gathered into the life of God and entrusted to one another in the Way of Jesus.

Jesus promises that we will not be left alone. In these verses, he speaks tenderly to his disciples about the gift of the Spirit, the nearness of his presence, and the deep mystery of abiding in love. “I will not leave you as orphans” is not only a promise for the disciples then, but for us now.

The Way of Jesus is not walked in isolation. Christ comes to us, remains with us, and draws us into the life and love of the Father. May we rest in that nearness today.

A teacher asked Jesus what matters most, and Jesus answered with simplicity: love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself.

Nothing more complicated. Nothing more important.
The Way of Jesus keeps bringing us back here — to a life shaped by love, offered fully to God and extended freely to others. May we keep returning to what matters most.

Yesterday, we were blessed to officially welcome 10 new members to GC Steele Creek. Through a ceremony called the Right Hand of Fellowship, we affirmed our unity in Christ. With every person the Lord adds, he reveals who he has ordained GC Steele Creek to be. We thank God for the beautiful image that is emerging.

On Monday, we participated in a celebration of Black History Month at Shads Landing, a senior living facility partnered with our congregation. Several members of GC Steele Creek helped talk about the role of the Christian church in the making of Black history in the United States. We highlighted the achievements of Black people and emphasized that Black history is our history. It belongs to all of us and it should be valued by all of us. We are thankful for the opportunity to be a blessing to our neighbors.

On the mountain, the glory of Jesus became visible, and the disciples were reminded who he has always been. In that moment, heaven drew near and God called reminded them to listen to Jesus.

The Transfiguration invites us to pause, behold Christ, listen, and let the voice of God transform us.

We had a great time today at the Flip the Fit event. Dozens of families joined us to swap clothes, make slime, launch paper airplanes, and enjoy some homemade ice cream. We appreciate everyone who came out to enjoy Flip the Fit with us. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped to make the day possible. We feel blessed to be a blessing to our neighbors.
