It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Pastor Noel Shanko. Pastor Shanko fell asleep in Jesus on Tuesday, August 4, 2026.

For more than 40 years, Pastor Shanko faithfully served the Lord in the Potomac, Carolina, and Florida Conferences. Throughout his ministry, he served in many roles, including pastor, Ministerial Director, and Assistant to the President. No matter the title, his calling remained the same—to faithfully shepherd God’s people and lead others into a deeper relationship with Jesus.

Pastor Shanko‘s life was a testimony of humble service, unwavering faith, and a genuine love for people. He had a remarkable way of encouraging those around him, caring deeply for fellow workers and church members alike, and reminding us that our greatest work is preparing people for the soon return of Jesus. While only eternity will reveal the full impact of his ministry, we know that countless lives were touched because he answered God’s call with faithfulness.

Today, we mourn the loss of a faithful pastor, trusted colleague, and dear friend. Our hearts ache alongside his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Yet we grieve with hope, because our confidence rests not in this life, but in the promise of the resurrection.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

I invite our Florida Conference family to join me in praying for Pastor Shanko‘s loved ones during this difficult season. May the Lord surround them with His peace, sustain them with His grace, and comfort them with the assurance that this separation is only temporary.

As we remember Pastor Shanko, may we honor his legacy by continuing the mission that defined his life: loving people, serving faithfully, and pointing others to Jesus until that glorious day when our faith becomes sight.

Florida Conference President

What makes a voice truly “prophetic”? Boldness, conviction, or faithfulness to Scripture? And how can we tell the difference between biblical reform and personal opinion clothed with divine authority?

“Testing the Prophetic Voice” offers a timely call to discernment: test every message, keep Christ at the center, and look at the fruit it produces. Worth the read.

In the years following the COVID-19 pandemic some contemporary voices within the Adventist Church have framed their messages in the language of prophetic confrontation.

PRESS RELEASE
Pacific Press to Produce Special Sharing Book for NAD’s “All Things New” Initiative Sherly Mae Rothgeb | Director of Marketing

NAMPA, Idaho — August 26, 2026 — Pacific Press Publishing Association is honored to partner with the North American Division (NAD) of Seventh-day Adventists in its All Things New, a year-long initiative leading to September 2027 global movement OneVoice27—backed by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

As part of this year-long emphasis, Pacific Press will produce a special sharing book featuring nine chapters from Ellen G. White’s The Desire of Ages. The North American Division hopes to distribute five million copies throughout its territory, giving Seventh-day Adventists opportunities to share the story of Jesus with friends, neighbors, coworkers, and community members. For Pacific Press, this project represents more than a publishing initiative. It is an opportunity to use the ministry of publishing to place a Christ-centered resource directly into the hands of millions of people.

A cornerstone of All Things New is an invitation for members to read or reread The Desire of Ages as they prepare to share Christ with others.

As members encounter Christ through The Desire of Ages, they are encouraged to share what they have discovered with the people around them.

Five Million Copies. Millions of Opportunities to Share the Story of Jesus.

The five-million-copy goal reflects the broader vision of All Things New: to move beyond a program or campaign and create meaningful opportunities for people to encounter the hope found in Jesus.

The book is designed to make personal witnessing simple and accessible. It may be given to a friend, neighbor, coworker, loved one, or someone encountered through community service.

Pacific Press and the Adventist Book Center network are also making The Desire of Ages available in a variety of editions and formats for those who want to participate in the reading journey or share the book beyond the special five-million-copy edition.

The five million books are not simply a publishing goal. They represent five million opportunities to start a conversation, build a connection, and share the hope of Christ.

Through this partnership, Pacific Press is grateful to support the North American Division’s historic All Things New initiative and looks forward to seeing how God will use these resources across North America.

What an amazing miracle!

What an amazing miracle!

After Colombia’s August 10 earthquake, a multistory building collapsed onto the open court of Corporación Educativa Adventista in Cali.

Many feared hundreds of students had been buried. Yet, through a remarkable series of circumstances, every student and teacher was preserved. Soon after, the school became a center of prayer, food distribution, and support for rescue teams and volunteers.
