When you put your trust in Jesus as your Lord, Life is at work in you. Not merely the life of waking and sleeping, joy and sorrow, sunshine and rain—but God Himself. His life, His energy, His power, and His love are now active within you. This is a different existence than the one we knew before Christ.

Prior to knowing Jesus, our end was death, and our lives bent steadily in that direction. The unhealed condition of sin—carrying great pain—never remains neutral. It demands relief. And when eternal healing is not found, we settle for denial, self-justification, or self-medication.
When Jesus entered humanity, perfect divine life joined our corrupted, fallen nature. And when He surrendered His life on the cross, the full force of sin’s destruction was unleashed upon Him. The devil did not hold back. And neither did God—He allowed death to fully and legally exhaust its power upon the sin Jesus took on. What death encountered, however, was a greater Life: the divine life of surrendered love, unconsumed and unconquerable.

The result is astounding—death has been condemned. For those who follow Jesus, death is no longer empowered; Life is. And as we surrender in obedience to the Holy Spirit, what once ruled us begins to lose its grip. Depression no longer has the final word. Anxiety gives way to peace. Doubt yields to assurance. This is our life in Christ—and each day, we are invited to unveil it anew. Join us on Sunday as we continue in our series on Atonement!

Tomorrow we begin our series on Atonement. What is Atonement? How does this help us understand sin, God’s wrath, restoration, and even love itself? What God has done for us through the life, sacrifice, and resurrection of Jesus is astounding. The more we devote ourselves to understanding this great work, the more we will grow in intimacy and freedom with Jesus.

We will be teaching on the Atonement Sunday mornings throughout the month of January. We will then go into a deep dive on this rich and vital topic to our Christian faith each Sunday at 6:30p at our church offices. The evening teachings will be discussion based and offer Q and A to create space for you to come into confident understanding. No registration required.

Devotion to Jesus carries with it unimaginable good for our lives and the lives of those we love. The Psalmist says:

“That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.”

God guarantees a life of flourishing when we plant ourselves in Him. Jesus called this way of life, “abiding in Him” and calls us to “follow”. It’s a simple way.

What is simple, though, is not easy. In fact, following Jesus will cost you everything. Or, to put it another way, as we pursue Jesus we find His life to be the greatest treasure, one worth surrendering all for: our ego, our control, our limited ideas of security, hope, and fulfillment. In place of what we give up, He gives us a life far better.

Cultivating this life requires intentionality. It requires help and support. It’s a life we were not made to do alone. Knowing this, we have created Flourishing to equip you to find and secure this life in Jesus.

Flourishing is a year-long, community based spiritual formation pathway. We learn how to cultivate life with the Holy Spirit, Jesus’ gift of guarantee to us. We will learn to hear His voice and how to follow. We will learn how to create consistency. We will learn how to open up and share so that His light dispels any darkness in the way. This morning let's come together and find the unshakeable peace and clear vision that our God provides. Let's pray for our nation and leaders and remind ourselves of mercy and hope that is seen in Jesus. God's peace and purpose are hear for us, beloved.

God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,
though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam,
though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy habitation of the Most High.
God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved;
God will help her when morning dawns.
The nations rage, the kingdoms totter;
he utters his voice, the earth melts.
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
Come, behold the works of the Lord,
how he has brought desolations on the earth.
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
he breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the chariots with fire.
“Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!”
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
