When you put your trust in Jesus as your Lord, Life is at work in you. Not merely the life of waking and sleeping, joy and sorrow, sunshine and rain—but God Himself. His life, His energy, His power, and His love are now active within you. This is a different existence than the one we knew before Christ.
Prior to knowing Jesus, our end was death, and our lives bent steadily in that direction. The unhealed condition of sin—carrying great pain—never remains neutral. It demands relief. And when eternal healing is not found, we settle for denial, self-justification, or self-medication.
When Jesus entered humanity, perfect divine life joined our corrupted, fallen nature. And when He surrendered His life on the cross, the full force of sin’s destruction was unleashed upon Him. The devil did not hold back. And neither did God—He allowed death to fully and legally exhaust its power upon the sin Jesus took on. What death encountered, however, was a greater Life: the divine life of surrendered love, unconsumed and unconquerable.
The result is astounding—death has been condemned. For those who follow Jesus, death is no longer empowered; Life is. And as we surrender in obedience to the Holy Spirit, what once ruled us begins to lose its grip. Depression no longer has the final word. Anxiety gives way to peace. Doubt yields to assurance. This is our life in Christ—and each day, we are invited to unveil it anew. Join us on Sunday as we continue in our series on Atonement!
