Who is a father? And what is the role of a father? Various cultures may have different answers. However, scripture guides us and gives various examples of what a loving father is, including the example of Jesus Christ's journey through birth to manhood. Like Christ mentions in The Parable of the Lost Son (Luke 15), a father is compassionate; a father instructs, guides, corrects, and disciplines with love (Hebrews 12); a father sets an example of what wisdom and righteousness looks like (Proverbs 23), and serves as one of many authoritative figures that a child learns and interacts with prior to adulthood. So, are you a present and proactive father that aligns with the Biblical narrative of a good father? Are you like Christ in all aspects - thoughts, actions, and words - of your daily life?
