It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Pastor Thomas Lee Broom, III, who was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 9, 2024. Thomas served as a part-time teaching fellow with the Institute for Theology and Mission, leaving a legacy of faithful ministry and a deep commitment to the gospel. His passion for Christ, dedication to shepherding others, and joy in serving the Lord touched the lives of many in our network and beyond.

We invite you to join us in prayer for his beloved family and friends and local church Grace Chapel Baptist, in York SC.

Grateful for an incredible day at FBC First Baptist Matthews with Ben Merkle and our panelists Dave Kiehn, Nathan Brooks, and Ernesto González, diving deep into elder-led church governance.

🏛️ Humility was the thread that connected each session as we explored what it means for a church to be led by a plurality of elders and the balance of authority between the congregation, elders, and deacons. 🙌

Special thanks to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Residency Project NC, and Metrolina Baptist Association for partnering with us in this event.

Ever tried to get your whole family to smile and pose perfectly for a photo? It takes patience, direction, and sometimes…a little nudge in the right direction! 📷

That's exactly what Paul was guiding Timothy to do in Ephesus—help the church “adjust” to be the household of God. In his latest blog post, Nathan Brooks explores the essential, yet often overlooked, step of transitioning to an elder-led congregational polity: patient teaching.

Before asking, “Is it time to transition?” ask, “Have I taught it yet?” Pastors, don't rush the process—teach, model, and lovingly guide your congregation toward understanding and embracing biblical leadership.

📖 Read Nathan's full article to learn how to shepherd your church through this transition with patience and conviction.

God has given us opportunities to lead in various areas of our lives, but when we embrace worldly approaches to leadership, we often hurt rather than help those entrusted to us. Jesus shows us a better way.
