From Pastor Curtis:
“Today, Sunday, July 19th, 2026, marks the beginning of a significant conversation, one of great difficulty and full of all kinds of emotion.
Over the past 10 ½ years, God has sustained me in His call to ministry within my life.
The first 3 years of that call took place within Campus Ministries on the campus of Catawba College, with Chapel services, youth camps, community outreach initiatives, and programs at a retreat center.
The last 7 ½ years have taken place in the local church, with just about every experience, from walking alongside the highest highs of people’s lives in marriages, births, and baptisms, to the lowest of lows, like the passing of someone close to them, uncertainty in a new diagnoses/test reading, and the reality that family members in their lives are still far from the Lord, and everything in between, like T-Ball games, dance recitals, state tournaments, and dinner at someone else’s dinner table and at my own.
Over the years, I have laughed, cried, smiled, and endured; every step of it, marked by God’s faithful promises and His continual nearness.
For the last two years, God has given me the incredible privilege to walk alongside each of you, and witness so many incredible things that He is continuing to work in and through each of you here.
Today, I am beginning the conversation of what will be mine and my family’s transition away from Sandy Springs and this chapter of ministry of occupying a place of leadership within the local church.
You may still see me from time to time providing pulpit supply for Pastors and churches who are in need, but that will no longer be the main focus of where God is leading my family and I in this new chapter.
God is moving me towards a new season of ministry as a chaplain, one that is continuing to unfold as we speak today. I ask for your continued prayers in that, as I always will remain in prayer for each of you.
This part of the discussion has already been shared with the Deacons at our last meeting, and this date to bring the rest of you into the ongoing conversation was decided then.
My plan, if you’ll have my family and I still, is to work alongside the Deacons, groupings of individuals that needs formed, and each of you, over the next month and a half to continue creating the plan for what will occur next, step by step.
I am excited to see what God will continue to do in and through Sandy Springs, because one thing I’m confident of is that He is always faithful, and He is just getting started here! Greater things are still to come!
This week, I will meet again with the Deacons, and more steps of the plan upcoming will be placed in view!
This is not the beginning of the end, rather, it is an invitation to a chapter the is brand new!
