What is the Spirit asking of us on International Day of Democracy as LCWR members? Perhaps the invitation begins with deeper attention to participation, human rights, civic life, followed by the courage to let contemplation become compassionate presence and faithful action.

Loving God,
we remember with heavy hearts all those who lost their lives on September 11.
Comfort their families and all who still carry the pain of that day.

We give thanks for the courage of the first responders, the helpers, and all who reached out in service to others.

Bring healing to our nation and to our world. Help us choose peace over hatred, compassion over fear, and love over division.

May we never forget, and may their memory inspire us to be people of kindness and mercy.

As we celebrate Juneteenth this year, we recognize the profound significance of June 19, 1865, the day when enslaved people in Texas learned of their emancipation, marking the true end of slavery in the United States. Juneteenth is a day to reflect on African American history, celebrate freedom, and commit to continuing the fight for racial equality.

Hate speech can take many different forms. But no matter what it looks like, hate speech has real consequences.

Each of us can take action and say NO to hate.

✅ Fact-check ✅ Challenge hate by sharing messages of tolerance ✅ Support people targeted by hate speech ✅ Report hate speech on social platforms

Thursday is the International Day for Countering Hate Speech.
