WHERE IN THE WORLD IS OUR PIPE ORGAN?
You may have noticed something missing from our sanctuary.
Our pipe organ.
For more than a decade, the Quarterman Organ has been an important part of worship and music at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church. It has accompanied our congregation in worship, filled our sanctuary with music, and even welcomed world-class organists to
West Ashley through Piccolo Spoleto’s L'Organo series.
But right now, the organ isn't in the sanctuary.
So... where in the world is our pipe organ?
Over the next six weeks, we're going to tell you the story.
It's a story that begins in Chicago in 1963.
It includes a beloved Charleston church musician, a journey to a new home, a major restoration project, an unexpected water intrusion, and a pipe organ that is currently waiting in storage for the day it can return home.
Along the way, we'll explain what we're doing to preserve this remarkable instrument—and why your support matters.
