Young adults of Charleston, Alonzo and Brian have the next round of Theology on Tuesdays coming at you TONIGHT at 7:00 p.m. upstairs in the Whiskey Room at Henry’s on the Market, and this time, they'll be talking about why The Odyssey has once again become a cultural phenomenon.
How is it that a 2700-year old-story still resonates––and has become a blockbuster movie, earning $1.4 billion (and counting) at the box office? Homer's Odyssey, written in the 7th or 8th century B.C., is the original epic tale exploring timeless themes like loyalty, temptation, courage, and the role of God(s) in the lives of men. What is it about this story that has caused its enduring popularity, and why has it struck a cultural nerve in its latest iteration as a cinematic blockbuster? Young adults, come join Alonzo and Brian tomorrow evening for a robust discussion about this iconic story and Christopher Nolan's film depiction.
As always, park for free in the church parking lot, help yourself to pizza and water (provided––cash bar available), and ask any questions you’d like anonymously through a texting app.
See you TONIGHT!!
