May God's blessings and peace be with our St. Philip's family and friends today! The church office is closed in observance of Memorial Day. In the event of a pastoral emergency, please contact the Rev. Bill Christian at (843) 327-0791.

"O Lord our God, whose name only is excellent and thy praise above heaven and earth: We give thee high praise and hearty thanks for all those who counted not their lives dear unto themselves but laid them down for their friends; beseeching thee to give them a part and a lot in those good things which thou hast prepared for all those whose names are written in the Book of Life; and grant to us, that having them always in remembrance, we may imitate their faithfulness and with them inherit the new name which thou hast promised to them that overcome; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen."

Join us on Sunday for a beautiful and contemplative Choral Evensong led by the Canterbury Choir, who will soon be headed to England for the International Children's Choir Festival! Before the service, special guest Holton Johnson, Director of Music Ministry at the Parish Church of St. Helena in Beaufort, will give a short organ recital.

About Holton Johnson: Whether leading hymns from the organ console, conducting the choir in worship, or offering sacred solos, Holton Johnson seeks to glorify God through every expression of music. A native of Gulfport, Mississippi, Holton first encountered the transformative power of music in the public schools as a euphonium player. Over time, his calling shifted from performance and education to ministry, as he discovered a deep love for choral and sacred music during his studies.

Holton holds a Bachelor of Music Education and a Master of Music in choral conducting from The University of Southern Mississippi. His training includes work in brass instruments, voice, organ, piano, and conducting.

Dedicated to the heritage and future of sacred music, Holton currently serves as Director of Music Ministry at The Parish Church of St. Helena in Beaufort, South Carolina. He brings together classical training and pastoral sensitivity to support vibrant congregational singing, develop choirs of all ages, and uphold the rich liturgical traditions of the Church.

Outside of ministry, Holton enjoys honing his barista skills at home, cooking for his family and friends, and unwinding with a good show or movie.
