Sisterhood


Sisterhood brings women together to cultivat

e and promote Jewish values and causes through spiritual and educational activities. The organization now known as the Sisterhood of Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim was created in the late 1800’s. In the early 1900’s, Sisterhood became affiliated with the Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ) and the National Federation of Temple Sisterhoods. As we learn and serve, we share friendship, fun, and gain a sense of belonging. Sisterhood promotes and maintains the good will of the community at large, serving Jewish and humanitarian causes, as well as assisting the Congregation in all of its endeavors.

Our hearts go out to the family and friends of KKBE congregant, benefactor, friend, and teacher,

Michael S. Kogan, PhD, son of the late Nathan B. Kogan and Marjorie D. Kogan, and beloved brother of the late Barton H. Kogan.

Michael died on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

A funeral service will be held in the sanctuary at
Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim, 90 Hasell Street, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at 2:00 PM. The sanctuary service will be available to livestream at kkbe.org/livestream.

Burial will follow in the KKBE Historic Coming Street Cemetery located at 189 Coming Street. Street parking is extremely limited. Carpooling or ride sharing is recommended.

Following the burial, a reception will be held at the home of Harriet McDougall, 129 Tradd Street.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Coming Street Cemetery Restoration Fund, 90 Hasell Street, Charleston, S.C. 29401.

May God console his loved ones among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
