We believe VBS can be one of the most impactful weeks of the year in the life of our church and our city.

Kids will laugh, worship, learn Scripture, build friendships, and hear the good news of Jesus — and families who may never step into a church otherwise will be welcomed into a loving community.

But it takes all of us.

GOD DOESN'T RANK YOU THE WAY EVERYONE ELSE DOES

Ever feel judged by what you bring to the table? Jesus saw two kinds of people: a rich young ruler who could do it all, and dependent children who could offer nothing. One received the kingdom. The other walked away sad. God doesn't see people the way we do.

So look hard at your relationships at work. Are you only trying to impress the boss who can get you to the next level in the career ladder, while you quietly ignore the people who can't help you climb?

Or think about your social circles. Do you chase the people one tier up, the ones with access you want, and avoid the people who just want to know you because they can't offer you anything?

But underneath all of it sits one question: are your relationships about what you can get out of people, or about what you can offer people?

And if you follow Jesus, you've got something real to offer: the gospel, a relationship with Him, and the truth about who the King of the world actually is.

The shift is simple but hard: see every person as made in the image of God. Their status, their paycheck, and how useful they are to you don't change their worth one bit.

Maybe that means catching yourself playing favorites. James 2 calls it the sin of partiality: rolling out the welcome mat for the wealthy and well-dressed while overlooking everyone else. God doesn't do that, so treat every person as valuable, and love your neighbor as yourself.

So what's God actually asking of you? For most of us, not to sell everything and move overseas, though He might call a few to exactly that. What He asks of every believer cuts deeper: be willing to surrender it all.
