FCA hosts powerful outreach events such as Fields of Faith or team-specific chapels. These events invite students from across the community to hear testimonies, worship together, and take steps in their faith journey.

Through these gatherings, students often find hope, encouragement, and a deeper sense of purpose.

On campuses, FCA creates a place where students can grow spiritually, build friendships, and learn how to live out their faith. Huddles often meet before school, during lunch, or after practice and include Bible study, prayer, worship, and discussions.

These gatherings help shape a positive, encouraging culture that reaches far beyond athletics.

Support-raising allows FCA to send dedicated leaders into schools full-time without relying on school budgets or fees. It also strengthens the ministry with a community of prayer partners and financial supporters who share the mission.

This model, similar to missionary support, has allowed FCA to expand across the world and remain faithful to its spiritual and relational mission.

FCA operates as a faith-funded ministry. Most staff members raise their own support through monthly donors, churches, and sponsors who believe in the mission. This allows FCA to serve schools at no cost.

In addition to donor support, FCA receives funding through camps, events, and merchandise. Together, these resources make it possible to invest in coaches and athletes year-round.

Strong leadership multiplies impact. Area Directors like Daniel develop spiritually strong, relationally connected, and financially stable teams that can serve more schools, more coaches, and more athletes. They help ensure the mission of FCA reaches every corner of their regions.

They also help new staff grow in their gifts and calling, providing coaching, community, and accountability in the ministry.

Daniel’s background—born and raised in rural North Carolina, a farm upbringing, high school and college in South Carolina, and now living in Illinois with his wife Emily and six kids—gives him a unique perspective on leadership, community, and discipleship. He enjoys the outdoors and family time, especially at Lake Michigan, and brings that same balance of passion and perspective to leading FCA’s multi-area teams.

Area Directors provide leadership for multiple counties or regions. They recruit, mentor, and oversee a team of Area Representatives who carry out ministry in local schools and communities.

This role ensures FCA remains healthy, growing, and spiritually grounded. Area Directors help shape the vision, strategy, and development needed to reach every coach and every athlete.

An FCA Area Director provides leadership for multiple counties or regions, recruiting, mentoring, and overseeing a team of Area Representatives who carry out ministry in local schools and communities. They ensure FCA’s mission and vision are implemented effectively, helping coaches and athletes grow spiritually and make a lasting impact.

Our Multi-Area Director, Daniel Chappell, brings a lifetime of FCA experience to the role. Involved in FCA since junior high and high school, Daniel was drawn to full-time ministry by his love for sports and the people involved in athletics. He leads with a heart for discipleship, helping Area Reps serve coaches and students in multiple regions while supporting them in their spiritual growth.

Area Representatives connect regularly with coaches, teams, and student leaders. They provide devotions, chapel messages, leadership training, and resources that help huddles flourish. They are often the link between the school, the community, and the broader mission of FCA.

Their goal is simple: build relationships that lead students and coaches closer to Christ and help them lead others.

Their goal is simple: build relationships that lead students and coaches closer to Christ and help them lead others.

For Trey, this work aligns perfectly with his passions for leadership, culture development, and psychology—things he’s been interested in since high school. FCA gives him the platform to speak into these areas while mentoring students and coaches, supporting them in their spiritual growth, and encouraging them to live out their faith in sports and life.

Outside of ministry, Trey is a lifelong learner and avid reader (often juggling four books at a time) and even won his high school “Mr. Irresistible” contest twice. But no matter the fun facts, his heart remains focused on ministry: walking alongside people, speaking truth in love, and helping others grow in Christ.

Area Representatives like Adam consistently build relationships with coaches, teams, and student leaders, offering Bible studies, leadership development, and practical resources that strengthen huddles. At the heart of their role is investing in people—supporting students and coaches in their faith journey while helping cultivate a positive, Christ-centered influence within their schools.

For Adam, ministry and coaching have become inseparable. He says, “Coaching athletes has become about far more than plays and points—it is about pouring Jesus into the lives of young people, helping them grow in faith, integrity, and transformation.” His faith, leadership experience from the Army, and lifelong passion for teaching all shape the way he mentors students and coaches in their personal and spiritual growth.

Adam’s story also reflects the balance of faith, family, and purpose. He and his wife have been married 11 years and are raising three children together. Leadership now extends beyond the field—into his home and community—allowing him to model Christ-centered living both personally and professionally.

An Area Representative is a full-time ministry leader serving coaches and athletes in their community. They lead huddles, train volunteers, disciple students, support coaches, organize events, and help build the spiritual foundation of FCA’s local ministry.

They also raise their own financial support team, allowing them to serve full-time and grow the ministry in their area. Their work ensures every coach and athlete has someone investing in their spiritual development.

Our local rep, TREY STILLE, serves Eastern Illinois University and Charleston High School. Trey says, “I get to lead coaches and athletes into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church. I do life with people. I counsel. I support. I get to watch them compete. I get to speak truth in love. I get to partner with others who want to make the name of Christ known.”

Interestingly, Trey wasn’t involved in FCA in school. What drew him to this work was discipleship—the part of coaching that consistently brought him joy. As he puts it, “Winning games is cool, but try being a part of God winning hearts.”

Our other local rep, ADAM MOCK, serves in Eastern Illinois as a Character Coach at Mattoon High School and through ministry at Emerald Acres Sports Connection. Adam knew early on that he wanted to teach and coach, inspired by coaches who modeled that the real victories in sports come from life lessons—discipline, perseverance, and attention to detail. Today, he pours that mindset into both athletics and faith, guiding athletes in growing their character and relationship with Jesus.

Adam also brings a unique perspective from his eight years of service in the Active Duty Army, including deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. Those experiences shaped his leadership skills and deepened his faith. He often reflects on the influence of an Army Chaplain who modeled ministry in action, showing him how to serve and disciple others with consistency and care.
