Pastor Appreciation Day was yesterday, but we’re celebrating today! ♥️

Dave and Saz, the heart behind Courageous Church. Moving your whole family to a new city is no small thing. But together with their four precious children, made the brave decision to leave what was familiar and plant their lives in Charleston, all because they believed God wanted to move in a fresh, powerful way in the Holy City. They didn’t just send a vision our way, they gave up the comfort of home and uprooted their whole family for it. Their faith and sacrifice are the reason so many of us have found community here.

Dave and Saz love people with their whole hearts. They show up, they listen, they celebrate our wins like they’re their own, and they walk with us through the hard seasons with so much kindness. With over 15 years of ministry experience, they pour out everything they have, along with endless energy and a spirit of adventure, and they are so intentional about investing in the next generation. Because of them, everyone who walks through our doors feels seen, welcomed, and deeply loved.

What we treasure most is their beautiful heart for both the past and the future. They honor the heroes of faith who paved the way and carry that legacy with so much gratitude, while staying wide open to the new thing God wants to do. They hold both with joy and expectation, and it shows in everything they lead. Launching Courageous Church in 2024 took faith, grit, and a whole lot of courage, and we get to see the fruit of that obedience every single week.

Dave and Saz, thank you for leading us so well. Thank you for your yes, your sacrifice, and your example. And thank you for never passing up a good plate of Southern BBQ 😄

This past Sunday we heard from Pastor Saz as she taught through Psalm 23:2-3, and it spoke straight to a question so many of us are asking: Why am I always exhausted and overwhelmed?

She reminded us that life is full, and that our fullness is the blessing we once prayed and dreamed for. But life is also loud, and maybe we’re missing a little silence and peace. Maybe we don’t let ourselves sit down and rest. He makes us lie down in green pastures, but we have to let Him.

So how do we rest? Through Sabbath, which isn’t advice but a commandment, and through stillness, silence, and solitude, trusting that He is sovereign over it all.

Rest is not weakness. Rest is trust. 🤍
