Thursdays are art days at Christ Church After School! Each week, students explore famous works of art, create their own inspired pieces, and sometimes even step inside the artwork themselves!

This tableau vivant (French for “living picture”) recreates “The Madonna of Loreto Appearing to Saints John the Baptist, Eligius, and Anthony Abbot” by Domenichino (Domenico Zampieri), painted around 1618-1620 for the Church of San Francesco in Fano, Italy.

Students are then encouraged to visit the North Carolina Museum of Art with their families to see the painting in person!

From August 17-21, Dr. Dan is leading a music summer camp in partnership with ArtzHub NC!

This half-day morning camp is perfect for children to enjoy learning about layering sounds and movement in a fun and energetic way. Group games and an introduction to various instruments will keep kids engaged as they prepare for the week’s crescendo to a lunch-hour performance on Friday open to family & friends! Each day is divided into kid-friendly segments that fold in plenty of time on the playground, too.
