Our reverends are available for counseling, spiritual guidance, or tea ceremony. The recommended donation is $20-$50 per session. No one will be turned away due to financial limitations.

Rev. WonGong (affectionately known as Rev. Wow!) is a lifetime dedicated dharma teacher. A pioneering Won Buddhist priest, she has established temples in Chapel Hill and Raleigh, North Carolina. She is a guest l

ecturer at schools, colleges, and meditation centers, teaching Buddhist philosophy and meditation to people of all ages and backgrounds. leads workshops, retreats, youth dharma camps, and cultural enrichment programs. She integrates creative forms of meditation with body movement, vocal Qigong, breathing techniques, guided meditation, and laughter. She is active in the international interfaith community and is a leading Korean-to-English translator of dharma teachings, serving as a spiritual bridge between East and West. She is a master of integrating Buddhist concepts in daily practice. Her kind, compassionate, and wise nature makes her an effective teacher and a valued life counselor. She loves gardening and singing. In 2018, she released a CD, Chants of Samadhi for Daily Practice and in 2020, she released her second CD, Chants for Healing. WonGong's email: [email protected]


Rev. ZiYoung had a childhood dream of building a world where everyone could live in peace and harmony. Toward that end, she earned her M.A. in Educational Counseling at Seoul National University and her Ph.D. in Counselor Education at Penn State. During her life journey and in search of her dream, she experienced frustration, doubts, and thirst, but they were resolved when she discovered Won Buddhist practice and teachings. She then happily pursued the path to ordination by receiving her undergraduate training at YoungSan University, South Korea, and her Master’s degree in Won Buddhist Studies at the Won Institute in Glenside, Pennsylvania. ZiYoung Kang was ordained as a Won Buddhist minister in December 2020, and has now been assigned to our Templeβ€”her first appointment! On Saturday, April 25th, the Won Buddhism Meditation Temple in Chapel Hill is hosting a family-friendly Open House for the community! Folks are welcome to drop by between 12 – 5 PM for mini-classes (Meditation, Qigong, Sound Healing, Korean Tea Ceremony, and an opportunity to experience the Dharma Hall). In addition, there will be a gift shop, as well as arts and activities for children. Come and enjoy the beautiful temple garden – a gem hiding in plain sight on Old NC. 86!
