2026 Taraweeh & Iftar Announcement

Assalamu Alaikum dear community,

Insha’Allah, the blessed month of Ramadan will begin very soon. Taraweeh prayers will be held at the Uyghur Masjid in both Chantilly and Fairfax.

Please note that iftar will be available only at the Chantilly location.

The schedule is as follows:
* Every Friday , Saturday , and Sunday , as well as the last 10 days of Ramadan, there will be regular iftar meals. Community members who wish to sponsor iftar will be scheduled for these days first.
* From Monday to Thursday , only light food will be provided; full iftar meals will not be served. If anyone from the community would like to sponsor iftar on these days, the masjid can arrange it.
* If you are unable to prepare food yourself, the masjid can arrange the iftar meal on your behalf. Please contact the masjid organizers regarding the cost, and meals will be prepared based on your request.

ئەسسالامۇ ئەلەيكۇم جامائەت،
ئىنشائاللا، مۇبارەك رامازان كىرەي دەپ قالدى. ئۇيغۇر مەسجىدى شەنتىلىدىكى ۋە فېئەرفەكىسدىكى ئورنىدا تاراۋى نامىزى بولىدۇ. لېكىن ئىفتارلىق پەقەت شەنتىلىدىكى ئورنىدىلا بولىدۇ. ئىفتارلىق تۆۋەندىكىدەك ئورۇنلاشتۇرۇلدى.

3. ئەگەر ئۆزىڭىزنىڭ تاماق تەييارلاش ئىمكانىيىتىڭىز بولمىسا، مەسجىد سىزگە ۋەكالىتەن ئىفتارلىق تاماق ھازىرلاپ بېرىدۇ. كېتىدىغان چىقىم ھەققىدە مەسجىد مەسئۇللىرى بىلەن ئالاقە قىلساڭلار، تەلەپكە ئاساسەن ئىفتارلىق تەييارلىنىدۇ.

Currently, there is no dedicated wudu area at the Uyghur Islamic Center. Worshippers must use the shared building bathrooms, which are inconvenient and not designed for wudu.

We are building a dedicated wudu area for both men and women to better serve our community.

This project will:
* Improve cleanliness and safety
* Reduce congestion in shared bathrooms
* Provide a proper, respectful space for wudu

Important:
* This new space will be for wudu only — not a restroom.
* The existing building bathrooms will still be used as restrooms.

Help a Uyghur Family While a Father Is Detained by ICE

We are raising funds to support a Uyghur family in the United States whose lives have been turned upside down due to prolonged immigration detention.

The father, Isma’il, is a Uyghur man and a legal immigrant who has lived in the U.S. for over 10 years, where he resides with his wife and five children, four of whom were born in the United States. He had been working honestly as a truck driver to support his family. However, because his U.S. green card application is still in progress, and out of fear of jeopardizing his case, he stopped driving.

Despite having no criminal record, he was detained by ICE and has now been held for more than two months

Current Situation

A recent court hearing confirmed that he has no criminal history and is eligible for release
However, due to backlogs and delays affecting many similar cases, his release may still take several more months
During this time, the family has lost its primary source of income

Impact on the Family

His wife, the mother of five, is now caring for the children alone while struggling to cover essential expenses. Although her family is doing their best to provide support, it is not enough to meet ongoing needs, including:

Rent and housing costs
Food and daily living expenses
Utilities and transportation
Car loan payments and related expenses needed for daily life
Urgent legal and attorney fees

How Your Support Helps

Funds raised will go directly toward:

Rent and housing stability
Basic necessities for the children
Car-related expenses
Legal and attorney fees to continue pursuing his release
Emergency family expenses during this uncertain period

Why This Matters

Uyghur families already face immense trauma and uncertainty due to persecution abroad. This family followed the law, trusted the legal process, and has done nothing wrong—yet they are facing severe financial hardship simply because the father remains detained while his lawful case is pending.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever relieves a believer’s distress, Allah will relieve his distress on the Day of Judgment.” (Muslim)
