Can dinner change your life? 🍽️✨ See how hospitality transformed a heart! ❤️

In Luke 14:1–24, Luke records a tense Sabbath meal between Jesus and the Pharisees. While dining at the home of a religious leader, Jesus exposes how far the Pharisees’ understanding of God’s kingdom had drifted from God’s heart. They valued tradition over healing, position over humility, reputation over hospitality, and excuses over responding to God’s invitation.

Through a healing, two parables, and the story of a great banquet, Jesus turns the tables on the Pharisees’ expectations of the kingdom. The honored seats are not reserved for the proud, the invitation extends beyond the socially accepted, and those who assume they belong at the banquet may ultimately refuse to come.

The kingdom of God works differently than this world expects.

This passage reminds us that Jesus calls His people to embrace the kingdom’s great reversal. Kingdom people value people over performance, trust God to exalt them in His timing, extend grace to the overlooked, and heed the King’s invitation without excuse. The banquet invitation has gone out, and there is still room at the table.

Embrace the kingdom’s great reversal.

Is your heart as clean as your water bottle? 💧✨ Let's dive deep!

05/17/2026

In Luke 11:37–54, Luke records a tense meal between Jesus and a Pharisee. Jesus accepts the invitation to dine, but the meal quickly exposes a deeper problem. The Pharisee is surprised that Jesus does not follow the expected ceremonial washing before the meal, and Jesus uses the moment to confront the danger of religious hypocrisy.

Jesus warns the Pharisees that they are careful to clean the outside while their hearts remain full of greed and evil. They give attention to visible religious details while neglecting justice and love for God. He also warns the experts in the law that they load people down with burdens they themselves will not carry.

The sin of hypocrisy is destructive in the church.

This passage reminds us that Jesus is not satisfied with outward religion that hides inward corruption. Hypocrisy damages our witness, burdens others, and resists the very repentance God calls us to embrace. Jesus confronts false religion not to embarrass sinners, but to expose our need for clean hearts before God.

Renew your heart today.

In Luke 9:10–17, Luke records Jesus feeding a crowd of thousands with only five loaves and two fish. The apostles had just returned from ministry, and Jesus took them away privately for rest. But when the crowds followed, Jesus welcomed them, taught them about the kingdom of God, and healed those who needed healing.

As the day grew late, the disciples saw the problem and wanted to send the crowd away. Instead, Jesus placed the responsibility in their hands: “You give them something to eat.” Their supply was limited, but Jesus provided abundantly. Everyone ate and was filled, and twelve baskets of leftovers remained.

Jesus used limited disciples to serve His abundant supply.

This passage reminds us that Christ does not call His people to serve from their own sufficiency. He places needs before us, exposes our limits, and teaches us to bring what we have, obey what He says, and serve what He supplies. Our comfort, resources, and limitations must not become excuses for disobedience.

Serve from Christ’s abundant supply.
