Did you know that Cedar Grove Cemetery has been part of Chambersburg's history for over 170 years?
On November 3, 1854, Jane Snider became the first soul to find peace in Cedar Grove Cemetery, marking the start of a legacy that’s grown with Chambersburg for over 170 years. We don’t know much about Jane—her story was lost to time, perhaps in the flames of 1864—but her resting place near the heart of our cemetery speaks volumes.
She represents the everyday strength of our town’s pioneers, the unsung heroes who built this community into what it is today: a thriving hub of resilience and pride.
Next time you’re near Cedar Grove, take a moment to visit Jane’s granite marker and honor the quiet courage that started it all!
