Today is Flag Day!
On June 14, 1777, the Second Continent Congress defined our flag's design with the Flag Resolution, which stated, "That the flag of the thirteen United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field, representing a new constellation."
Pennsylvania was the first and only state to declare Flag Day a state holiday before it was declared a national holiday in 1949.
