We are thrilled to welcome two new faces to the St. Joan of Arc community, CJ and Lucy! CJ and Lucy will be interning at the parish this summer thanks to the Mary, Mother of the Good Shepherd Institute. Their internship will show them what professional parish life is like, as well as offer spiritual, intellectual, and skills-based formation. Make sure to say hello when you see them around!

Today is the feat day of St. Pope Paul VI.

Paul VI, originally born as Giovanni Battista Montini, became a priest in 1920 and in 1924 began work for the Vatican Secretariat of State. In 1954, he was named the archbishop of Milan and was selected to be a cardinal in 1958 by John XXIII.

He was elected pope in June of 1963 and continued the work of his predecessor during the Second Vatican Council in which 16 documents were promulgated.

Paul VI was also influential with his written encyclicals, visits, and relations with other countries. He increased the number of cardinals in the Church, giving many countries their first. Pope Paul VI died on August 6, 1978.

He is the patron of the Archdiocese of Milan.

St. Pope Paul VI, pray for us!
