The LGM family celebrated by hosting its 7th Annual Appreciation Dinner for patrons and friends on March 23 in the elegant Sierra Room of the Cerritos Center for Performing Arts. Board Vice President Chi-Chung Keung emceed the event along with Narah Jayasekera. LGM partner (Rev.) Ren Sabio blessed the evening with an opening prayer.
The Appreciation Dinner is perhaps the best opportunity each year for LGM President Thel Bringas and Sonia Bringas to update loyal and generous stakeholders on the programs and life-changing resources they make possible for LGM to deliver. This year was no exception.
Each year, LGM also presents the Dr. Arthur & Evelyn Thompson Award to an honoree chosen for extraordinary service and commitment to the LGM mission. This year’s recipient is Dr. Manolito Fidel. Dr. Fidel was recognized for leading and organizing a medical mission to deliver much needed treatment and supplies in his hometown of Halayhayin, Pililla, Rizal, an endeavor that required tremendous sacrifices of time and money. Incidentally, this was the second medical mission conducted by Dr. Fidel’s family and the medical team. In August of this year, they’ll be holding their third, at Lifestream Tanauan, Batangas, with Pastor Fernan Vitug coordinating the event.
Dr. Fidel served two terms on the LGM Board of Directors and recently transitioned from the governing board to its Advisory Board, joining the first Thompson Award recipient, Dr. Edward Lieskovan in that capacity.
Entertainment is always a major component of the Annual Appreciation Dinner. This year was no exception, as Jess Marfil on the saxophone and Blessing Runes on keyboards provided instrumental music throughout the evening, and the Kaibigan Club, from the local ABC School District, featured several traditional Filipino dance selections. Concluding the entertainment portion of the program, LGM President Thel Bringas was joined by Dr. Ken Abjelina, Dr. Marvin Barros, and Ramon Retuya to form a vocal quartet that is always guaranteed to elevate and to put a smile on the collective face of their audience.
Ken Bringas, Senior Pastor of New Life Foursquare Church, closed the evening by providing an insightful, scripturally-centered perspective on the importance of giving and its place as an integral part of Kingdom work. His message touched the hearts of more than 175 attendees. Although not technically a fundraiser, the Annual Appreciation Dinner provides an opportunity for its friends and patrons to tangibly express their support of the LGM vision and mission. As in past years, the generosity of the LGM community was a tremendous affirmation that the Lord is using us all for important and necessary work.
