At devotional, Bishop W. Christopher Waddell taught that caring for those in need is a divinely appointed responsibility of the Church and an essential part of following Jesus Christ. Drawing from global humanitarian efforts and experiences responding to disasters in Türkiye, Syria, and Lahaina, he showed how Church resources and individual acts of service help relieve suffering and bless communities around the world.
He encouraged students to follow the Savior’s example by recognizing opportunities to serve, using their talents, and remembering that even small acts of kindness can make a difference.
“The most important thing I invite you to do is to pray and ask God how he can use you, and then for you to act on the promptings you receive.”
— Bishop W. Christopher Waddell

“A key part of a life well-lived is contributing to the wellbeing of others. It is being productive in worthy endeavors. It is being and doing better without others doing worse. It comes by supporting and rewarding work rather than idle pursuits."

— Elder D. Todd Christofferson

"A sincere and faithful fast is accompanied by earnest and intentional prayer. As we lift our hearts to the Lord in humility, fasting becomes an expression of our desire to draw near to Him, communicate the true desires of our hearts, and understand His will for us. Through the union of fasting and prayer, our faith, love, and devotion to Him deepen. We become more humble and more aware of our complete dependence upon the Lord. Our hearts are softened, our souls become more receptive to the influence of the Holy Ghost, and we are better prepared to receive personal revelation and move forward along the covenant path."

— Elder Ulisses Soares
