In Mark 10, a wide range of people approach Jesus for the wrong reasons, seeking what He can give rather than seeing Him for who He truly is. As Pastor Hank reflects on these encounters, we are reminded that Jesus does not love us because of our achievements, status, or worthiness, but because of His unfailing grace and compassion toward people who have nothing to offer in return. We are encouraged to look beyond our accomplishments and failures and fix our eyes on the cross, where Christ’s love for the unlovable is most clearly displayed.

Pastor Sam reflects on the disciples’ fear and hesitation after Jesus speaks about His coming death and resurrection. Though they did not fully understand His words, they were afraid to ask, revealing how often we resist the truth when it threatens our comfort, control, or plans for ourselves. We are encouraged to trust that God’s will is not meant to diminish our lives, but to lead us into something far better than we could create on our own.

At the center of Mark 8 is the question Jesus asks His disciples: “Who do you say that I am?” Pastor Huey reflects on how Peter’s confession reveals both the truth about Jesus and our tendency to misunderstand the kind of Savior He came to be, not a conquering king, but the suffering Messiah who would give His life for sinners. As Jesus calls His followers to take up their cross and follow Him, we are encouraged to trust that He is worth surrendering everything for.
