Today begins the Apostles' Fast. (8 June - 11 July)

Unlike Great Lent, this fast changes in length from year to year. Some years it is long. Some years it is brief.

Yet its purpose remains the same: to prepare us to imitate the Apostles themselves; not only in doctrine, but in life.

Before they preached, they prayed. Before they taught, they learned. Thus before we feast, we fast.
