It seems as if the world is going crazy but if you turn to the Bible you will find that this is not the first time.

The Apostle Paul encouraged his protégé, Timothy, to cling to faith by reminding him, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7). This is essentially the battle call in Psalm 91.

Our song this week is a reminder to give thanks to the Lord for all of your blessings.

Life isn't always easy as a Christian, but we do have someone always working for our good. Give thanks to Him constantly and your life will be fuller.

Like it says in Colossians 2:6-7:

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

Let us take stock on this beautiful and remember how truly blessed we are and why we should share in our blessings.

Being blessed means to trust in the Lord. ~Imagine what it would be like to face each day without knowing that we could trust in the Lord.

Being blessed means that one’s hope is in the Lord. ~A truly blessed life is a life that does not depend on the circumstances of life to make them happy and content. A truly blessed life looks beyond this world to the Lord.

As it says in Jeremiah 17:7-8 NIV:

7 “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”

The lyrics to our song express how many of us feel sometimes. We tend to forget that God is in control so we try to "fix" everything all the time.

If you stop believing

Jesus didn't die on the cross for us to be in charge of our lives. He died so that He could reign over our sinful hearts that desperately need His guiding, saving, and loving, truth and grace.

Matthew 11:28 reminds us to lay down these burdens to the one who controls all:

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

As Christians, we try to do the best we can at work. To commit our labors to the Lord; as if we are presenting everything we do to Him. However, even God rested. As it says in Genesis 2:2 - NIV:

2 By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work.

On this beautiful keep your eyes fixed on the Lord and be thankful for your blessings. Don't focus on the negative around you. Remember God has a plan.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28 (NIV)

The Living Bible translation words it this way: “And we know that all that happens to us is working for our good if we love God and are fitting into his plans.”
